Leaking Wastemaster

I wondered if anyone else had experienced a problem with their Wastemaster leaking and what they had done about it?  All I am talking about is a slight drip from the bottom cap – which, in normal use probably wouldn’t be noticed and wouldn’t be an issue.
However, on one occasion, I emptied it – screwed on the caps – and then put it in its storage bag in the ‘van.  Trouble was that I hadn’t got that very last drop out and over a period of weeks, the water dripped out, into the waterproof bag where it sat and
festered away happily.  Result – one very smelly caravan.

The smell is now sorted (thank goodness) but I still have the problem with the dripping cap.  As there aren’t any seals or O-rings, I can’t see how it is ever possible to get a completely watertight seal.  I have checked for any ridges in the moulding on
the Wastemaster and it’s completely flat.  Next stage is, I guess, to try and obtain or manufacture some sort of neoprene seal /washer.  Final step is to invoke the 10 year warranty but I doubt that will produce anything other than another Wastemaster with
identical problems.

Any suggestions?

Thanks - Richard

Sorry - forgot to mention - the Wastemaster is only just over a year old and the cap in question was replaced about three months ago after the first one mysteriously disappeared down a CDP!  I've also tried swapping the caps around but that doesn't make any difference.

Many thanks - that's most useful - both the phone number and the fact that your's has rubber washers.  I would have expected them to be there, too.  Will let you know how I get on!

With a steady hand squeeze into the cap base a ring of secomastic sealant, leave to harden for a couple of days and you have a flexible manufactured O ring that will compress and seal when tightened.Cool

Sorry I'm a cheapskate but if there is a proper seal washer then get it.

    JVB and Dave

Thanks for your comments - have had a VERY positive result.  Just spoken to Hitchman's (why didn't I think of doing it before???)  The Wastemaster (and the Aquaroll for that matter) SHOULD have rubber O-rings inside.  They are well aware that there is a
certain type of person who, having lost their O-rings, visit accessory shops, open boxes and help themselves to however many they need.  Obviously I am not the only one to report this and they are now fitting security seals to the boxes for all their products.
Very nice, apologetic and positive reaction from their staff and a complete set of seals are on their way to me.

Dave - you're not a cheapskate - I was thinking of doing exactly something like that!

Where do you get caps for a couple of pounds please?  The last one I bought was £5.

The customer service from Hitchman's gets better!  I had an email from them this morning, prior to posting out the new seals - asking whether or not a filler hose had been included when I bought the Aquaroll and if I needed one as well.  Obviously, these must also go 'missing'!!

As it happens, I did get one - so no problem - but how nice to come across a company which actually does care about customer satisfaction.  I can think of more than a few organisations out there who could do well to take a leaf out of their book!Happy
