This weekend we erected for the first time our new Magnum coal 250.  Everything went smoothly until it came to the rear poles.

The poles themselves were no bother, but the hassle was clipping the plastic guides onto the poles. You needed to be Samson to do this as extremely difficult as the opening for the guides is very narrow.

When it came to taking down the awning, it was nearly impossible to unclip these plastic guides from the rear pole.  It got to a stage we almost considered leaving them in with the poles but this was impractical.

Eventually we did succeed but it took ages.  Are we the only ones to have this hassle?  Also why have these plastic guides got a figure of eight along the side?

I would think the figure of eight you refer to is the channel that the awning slides into which is then held tight to the pole with the plastic guides. They are very hard to clip onto the poles perhaps if one end was heated with a hair dryer or heat gun
it could be opened out slightly to assist fitting. If you check the Isabella website you can get alink or go directly to youtube and search for Isabella awnings. They have a very comprehensive selection of videos covering erecting and taking down several models
of their range. There is one on the magnum which would be the same as the coal lots of tips too.

We had been supplied with the incorrect sliders as the slider shoudl have had a single channel.  We now have thge correct ones, but unfortunately we have now found a major flaw with the workmanship where the front beading was stitched onto the awning at
the top.  Due to it being incorrect the awning bunches at the top.

Isabella are collecting the awning today for evaluation.  Very disappointed as we paid a top price and have had two issues with the Magnum awning due to poor quality checks.  In addition, we purchased a sun canopy and that arrived minus a pole so had to
ask them to send the pole which was sent promptly.  Both items came direct from Isabella.

We have the same awning and the quality and fit are excellent, it’s expensive, but well worth the price.  We have only used it twice so far and the grey plastic guides you refer to are difficult to put on, but I started at the top corner and this seemed
to work fine.  I have no experience with these type of awnings, but looked at the video on YouTube and this worked fine.

We are now on our second magnum having worn the first one out, after using it only about 200 times over 10 years, the quality is second to none, I have always found it easy to erect and got it down to a fine art taking about 20 min from start to finish.
Sorry to hear you have had problems but hopefully once you get it sorted you have as much enjoyment from it as we do ours. As per pre. post youtube show a good video showing how to erect it.

I find that clipping the plastic guides onto the poles is easier if you first introduce just one end of the guide onto the pole then press along the guide so it all falls into place. It means there is less effort required than if you try to press the entire
    length in one movement.

With the correct guides it is a lot easier.  Pity about the poor workmanship and quality control on our Isabella.  They collected yesterday and as the awning is under 6 months old, we have requested that it is replaced and not repaired.
