Motorhome levellers
Hi all. We are new to motorhoming and want to buy a set of levelling ramps. Are the Thule style stepped ones best or the normal Fiama gentle gradient ones?

Hi Shaun, we use the milenco triple, have used it for a few years and still as good as new. Before that we used the fiamma which collapsed after a short while, they don't like hard standings with large chippings as they crack. Thats just our experience,
no doubt there will be others with different opinions, you will have to sift through the replies and make your own mind up. Good luck..0 -
Depends on preference and convenience really. We have a set of the smaller Fiamma levellers because they fit in a bag neatly under the cab passenger seat -we have a PVC,so compactness is important. They are six years old and still in good nick.We have a set
of large Fiamma levellers left over from caravanning days but they tend to live in the loft unless we know we are going to a really sloping site.A tip for conveniently carrying the larger ones which we picked from a pal is to buy two long ,thin coach bolts, large
washers and wing nuts and to pass these through the gaps between the uprights on the Fiamma cycle rack-the larger levellers have holes right through them so you can fasten the levellers hung vertically on the cycle rack.We try to keep "stuff" inside the van
to a minimum.0 -
As Kenexton said, it depends on the sites you use !!
my medium w/base Fiat levels quite well using the Fiamma stepped ones, except for one stay in Dorset each year on a steep sloping farm field when I have to take the Four Level Milenco Quads. They all seem ok for the
jobs I ask of them but the Quads are certainly large.Brian

Try some waffle boards ..http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/waffle-boards .. We have some blocks of wood and a pair of waffle boards. You can make any hight you want. If it's wet you can put the front wheels on them so you can move off in the morning even if the back wheels have sunk in overnight. Also very easy to get up. keep ours in the back locker but we also kept them in one of the lockers in the Swift.

Our motorhome has quite a long wheelbase for its overall length, with a short rear overhang. This tends to make levelling more difficult, but we get by with a Milenco triple set. Can support Brian in that the Milenco set seems pretty strong and has coped with grass and all types of hard standing that we have come accross so far.
I should add that I find the stepped type better than sloping for the motorhome. We swapped to a MH from a caravan and still had the old yellow sloping levellers, but they were not high enough, plus you get no feedback unlike bumping up the stepped ones!

Thank you all for the helpful tips and advice. We have just got a set of the large Fiamma levellers for a really good price, so will try these out next weekend in Dorset. Hopefully the sites we will be visiting in August will be almost level ish Thanks
