Could somebody please recommend a cleaning agent - preferably a spray, to deter the green algae that appears in the winter lay up period. (Inside the caravan).

I use the Muc Off bike cleaner in the 1 litre spray bottle.

Bought a 5 litre refill from Amazon to top up the spray .

Found this the best and cheapest way to clean the roof (I can stand on mine) - just wet the van, leave for a few minutes and soft brush off with plenty of water.

Write your comments here...I watched the Andrew Marr show as well. Unfortunately there was no menton of cleaning the insides of caravans! Waste of tv licence if you ask me!

Try mudbuster, their caravan cleaner is recomended by them to clean inside and outside the van. I've been using it for the past year  and it is the best cleaner I've ever used. I use it on my bikes and car as well. Great stuff.

With the stuff being inside the van then IMO it is much more likely to be mould, a fungi rather than algae, so needs cleaning up with a product having a fungicide. If it is an algae then something is wet.

Think it might be a sort of mildew; a number of us have it.  If so it will come off easily and I would then clean with a dilute milton solution.

Write your comments here...Correct, use a weak solution and wipe down the surfaces inside the 'van', cupboard doors etc. before putting to bed for the winter. Also, mushrooms grow in the dark, that's why I prefer not to have a cover.
