Cycle roof mounted lifting systems
The perennial problem of cycle storage when all British caravan manufacturers refuse to make serious design changes to accommodate cycle carriers. I seem to be condemned to carrying my cycles on my vehicle roof, but my vehicle height is 1.8m. Unfortunately, I am less than 7' 6" in height, and would have difficulty in safely lifting the cycles on and off! There are some fleeting clips on youtube of lifting systems. Does anyone have any experience in these, and could they kindly inform me where to purchase them. All usual internet searches show very little!

I am sorry but I can't point you to the right place but what I can tell you is that we saw one of these contraptions being used by an elderly couple who had a single bike and a tandem as they took their Down Syndrome daughter caravanning. It was on a German
site and they were sited opposite us. The machine worked magnificently even as we were convinced it wouldn't. So my only real message is check out German websites or maybe our German member, Lutz, can help identify it. Don't give up. I've seen it work, whatever
it was.0 -
I used to use something like >this< which bolts behind the tow ball. It meant you could still hitch up but you do need a good tow ball nose weight. I could just manage it with one bicycle which was all I needed. I still have and use it but mainly when solo.

Thanks for that Admiral! I also have a Volvo, but Volvo does not list a roof-mounted lifting system in the UK. I believe that a system is available in the USA and possibly on the Continent, I shall continue my search. Could you tell me when you purchased
your kit, and from which Volvo dealer please?0
