Can anyone recommend a small vacuum cleaner for caravans?

    A West Highland Terrier.

    Ours picks up more than the Dyson.

    Dont  have  a  dog,  but  I  do have  a  Dyson  battery  jobbie--=   works  ok  for  me  in  house  &  in  Van,  but  overly  house proud  I  ain't!!  EmbarassedCertainly  pricey  but  it  functions  very  well  with  the  rotary  sweeper  thing  and  the  crevice  tool  too.

    We have the Dyson DC44 rechargable, very good but pricey.  We use it at home and just stick it in the van when we go away.

    I bought Tesco own brand cheapest little cylinder six years ago; excellent. How much use will it get? You're on holiday.....

    There is a nice electric one being demonstrated at the NEC Camping and Carvan Show. £40 which I though good value. Think it was called Supervac?

    We have the little but powerful AEG stair vacuum cleaner, also sold under the Electrolux brand name at a higher price. Very adequate. The hose clips off and can be used with an included nozzle, after a fashion as the hose is short, but workable. It has a long cable length for its car cleaning role.

    Depends how long you are on holiday for!

    After a couple of months you do need a decent vacuum.

    We have been through 3 different appliances in 16 years, the others were not a patch on the Dyson.

    But we would not buy it just for use in the caravan, far too expensive.

    We use the cordless Dyson animal in the van just take it from home , works a treat .

    The one at the show is a Merlin arnica £45 got one today, has done a good job on my stairs, also is very light too

    On summer continental trips leave carpets behind.  On shorter UK trips we find that a brush will do.

    I got a nice little Halfords Car Vac with Green Shield Stamps 45 years ago and its still in use!

    Poundland do a good manual brush and pan set, just only, don,t ask £1.00.

    I have a Black & Decker 18v cordless vacuum, bought it in their Doncaster Retail Park store on special offer a few years ago. Stays in the van and in its recharging cradle on charge all the time. It's never let me down yet. Made a tube attachment for it using a length of spare waste pipe to get to the tricky corners.

    If you suffer allergies from dust/ pets, then I'd recommend the Dyson DC58 Animal. Pricey but extremely good; ideal for the caravan.

    We have a cordless Dyson DC?? at home. It is fantastic, when it fails I will buy a new one the same day, worth it's weight in gold.

    However, in the caravan?  A dust pan and brush

    Write your comments here...How often do you need to charge it. I am. Bit wary of rechargeable ones , going by my chargable drills the battery costs more than the drill.. Were you quoted a new battery price ??

    Its  a  Li--ion  battery  &  I  charge  mine  after  half  hour  so  a  sizeable  part  of  the  house  or  the  whole  m/van  a  good  time  or  three.  You  get  a  2 -- year  Warranty  HH  and  after  17 or 18  months  the  Charger  on  mine  failed.  One  phone  call  to  Dysons,  five  days  later  (  there  was  a  week-end  in  the  middle  )  the  replacement  arrived  and  all  is  well.

    But  the  operator  on  the  phone  told  me  to  keep  in  touch,  'cos  there  are  goodies  available  from  time  to  time Surprised !!

    He  didn't  say  what  &  I  was  just  too  flabberghasted  to  ask !!

    Cordless Dyson animal here as well, fantastic in home or van to pick up dog hairs. Bit pricey but shop around online, there are deals out there

    Was wondering what to get, as my old Dirt Devil mains handheld is no longer really doing well (probably years of using on a boat hasn't helped!)- and something under 750W so I can use it from the generator when the caravan is in storage would be good- have
    been recommended elsewhere the AEG handheld RapidClean, as that is 700W, and appears to have good reviews. Any thoughts?
