Towing Mirrors for a VW Passat

My Milenco mirrors will not clamp onto the top of the mirror housing on my '65 reg Passat as the gap between the mirror and its housing is too small. I have attached them under the bottom of the mirror pro tem. Can anyone suggest a more suitable make of
towing mirror?

    When I had a Passat (a 2009 model)  the Milenco mirrors fitted ok as they do on my VW Tiguan  Try adjusting the mirrors to give the max gaps to get the brackets in.

    On my 2011 Passat i used rock steady towing mirrors, the fitted well.

    I have milenco aero ones on my 2015 passat and they fit no problem.
