Hi everyone,

We need to find an effective way to clean the awning clear plastic windows.  Have tried traditional sponge and leather with clear water (am reluctant to use any detergent for fear of damaging the canvas).

Are there any proprietry products for this purpose, or is it just a metter of persevering.  They are tricky to clean anyway with the side walls bending under the pressure of rubbisg on the windows.

Would be grateful for any tips..

When I empty my de-humidifier I collect the distilled water, rather than throwing it away. Then clean all my windows using that and a clean cloth. I also do this to get mud off the acrylic wall so I don't affect the waterproffing

I just use a cloth with warm soapy water. Make sure the cloth is well wrung out so water doesn’t go everywhere. Never had any problems.

Thanks everyone - looks like soapy  water and elbow grease then.  A job for the weekend as we are in the Algarve (Portugal) in the van and have visitors from Canada next week.

Got to have the outfit looking smart!

I wondered why it was getting dark in my awning.

.....I have to admit, I thought something similar.  When I notice it becomes a bit dirty, a wipe over with damp kitchen roll usually does a fair job.  My answer to lots of things is kitchen roll - I use miles of the stuff!!

I have found the best way to clean the awning is to get my wife up the steps with a bucket and brush. When she has finished she can do the caravan and car, taking care not to knock my drink over.Winking
