    Whenever you pick up a caravan after purchase or a service the proviso is check the wheel nut torque after around 20`. How many caravanners own a quality torque wrench, have it calibrated on a yearly basis and are competent in it use I bet relatively few.

    ...Hence my use of Milenco tell tales saves a lot of faff

    Why is it there's such a big thing of doing this with caravans when the above tyre fitters will also advise the same after a wheel/tyre being fitted to your car? I bet few people check their car's wheel bots/nuts after 20 miles or at all.

    I think it springs from when there was a spate of well publicised wheel losses from c/vans, which seems to have receeded lately as the theory was put forward that it was uncommon for wheels to be balanced  causing vibration,and it was nearly always the nearside
    wheel that came off as the bolts undid  anti clockwise (the drection of travel)

    I have been invited  to witness a kwik fit fitter use a torque wrench On my car wheels. Don't know if was thick or not but he certainly didn't know how to use torque wrench.  That was on a company car my own car I use a small independent who seem to know
    what they are doing.  

    Related to torque my company did a project to look at the relationship between torque and applied force. There were huge differences between new and old threads different materials whether the threads were lubricated or not must dig out the report.  This
    was not for automotive but for pharmaceutical equipment
