Changed to Correlle three years ago and took the melamine set to the charity shop just this week!

    O.h. Says I'm a hoarder but I'm really just a little cautious!

    Hi bestboy.

you are not alone. I left the melamine S**t in the hallway for the OH trip over because he said he would rather take it to work and let his colleagues have the benefit Rather than lug it to the charity shop. Oh dear, the bag has just split (a week later)
    all over his drivers seat

It's great stuff, but don't forget the cups/mugs are made from pot

We also treated ourselves to a Corelle set last year. Regretted it recently, when after a rather windy tow when the van came sharply back into line after a particular gust, we found most of the plates in very small pieces on the floor of the caravan. We
have now invested in a bamboo set - much lighter and looks very good (and much cheaper).

    Cheers

Oops!  Don't think we'll bother then.  I thought that the fabulous Corelle was supposed to be unbreakable.  Our melamine crockery survived even when the caravan didn't.

I was also under the impression that Corelle was virtually indestructibleSurprised

Might be worth a phone call to Corelle, or is it too late as you have thrown it out...Undecided......Cool

Oh dear, we have a set on order from Amazon, delivery due next week.  We too thought it was unbrekabale.  We are fed up with our old melamine.

    Ah.

hopefully the triple bubble wrap around each item and the padlocked kitchen cabinet will help us avoid this one then!

Worth checking out IKEA if you live near one. I have got very inexpensive plain white "glass" (correlle type) crockery from the Market Place, usually just on random pallets. 50p per piece.

I'm interested in the Bamboo crockery - how does it perform with hot food as most are just advertised as picnic sets.

We've got to replace our current crockery (proper stuff) as we're down to two plates and two bowls now - which is no good when friends join us.  We did buy some whilst in France last year (Corelle look alike and very cheap) but it's the wrong colour for
    us for the caravan!

    Hi Val,

We bought an Outwell bamboo set (then available in John Lewis, but no longer on their website) and we used it on our last outing in January. It was fine with hot food on plates, hot soup in the bowls and many cups of tea in the mugs. It is stated to be dishwasher
proof, but i wouldn't put it in the oven.

    Cheers
