kampa ace air awning
Looking at purchasing a kampa ace air but can't decide on the size. The 300 will have one of the side panels going over the rear side window of the caravan -has anyone had a problem doing this? And the 400 is near enough going to be a full awning (is on
the flat part of the roof)but the side panels will miss all the windows.the only problem with the 400 is the rear flap on the awning rail bead will have to go around the rear bend on the awning channel of the caravan-has anyone had a problem doing this? I
understand talking to accessory shops these flaps are over vents in the side panel.
I am also going to purchase the extra poles that hold the side panels of the awning to the van.
Decisions decisions.
So basically the 300 covers a window and the 400 is a very tight fit
The van is a fixed bed so the door is near the front of the caravan.

Have you considered the Kampa Fiesta air pro awning various sizes available all panels zip out, making it lighter to feed through awning rail. Annex may be fitted either end.
At least on the Ace Air Pro (assume the poled version is the same), all the panels zip out too. I store ours with the panels taken off as it makes it a lot easier to feed through the channel.

Don't really like the fiesta shape, have considered the air pro but the roof on that drops down on the outer edge quite sharp so a lot of the headroom is lost.
Mystified by that observation. We had a poled Kampa Rally before we got the Ace Air Pro, and there's no discernable difference in the headroom. There may be a marginal (couple of inches) diference in that the airpoles are on the inside of the awning fabric
rather than the poles being external, but it's not noticeable. I can understand people rejecting the air version on the basis of cost, or weight to pull through the awning channel,or even misplaced concern about reliabiilty, but the shape of the awning is
no diferent to the poled version.Sorry, can't help you on your original 300 vs 400 question as our van's long enough to accommodate the latter with a few ft spare at the back, but I wouldn't have thought it would do a great deal of harm to have the "flap" going around the rear corner of
the awning rail.0 -

I wouldn't rush to get the extra poles to hold the sides against the van. I got some when I bought our Air Pro 390 last year and haven't needed to use them. Providing you take care to peg the bottom of the sides slightly under the van, this pulls the pads
close to the van side giving a good seal and I really haven't had a need to use the poles - even in windy conditions.0 -
The Ace is too fiddly for our liking

Do you mean the design or the erecting of it?
Attractiveness of design is in the eye of the beholder, but putting it up couldn't be easier (at least the Air one) - pull onto rail, peg the four corners, inflate (single point), peg out as usual.
