We are about to take delivery of a used (2015) Adria Astella, Rio Grande Glam. We think that it hasn't got a submersible water pump so want to buy one. Anyone help? What sort do we need?. The chap selling isn't particularly savvy(he took it PX for a static)
so he cannot help. We cannot find any info anywhere on what we might need.

Any suggestions (even on where to look for info) much appreciated.

The clubs technical help line might be able to help.

I think older Adrias had a tank in front locker, but newer ones have a Truma (I think) side fitting. Best idea is contact your local dealer once you have the 'van, and can have a look. I have found surprising bits once I checked all the lockers on my vans!
The manual is the best thing to find......after the inlet hose obviously.

    Hi again

just to put some meat on the bone!, the question might have seemed a silly one, but we have only seen the van once, it's 340 miles away and was wedged in between other vans so we could not have a close look. We collect in two weeks and want to stop overnight
on the way home, hence the need to prepare. It's second hand and has been abused so everything is an unknown, heating, water, etc.

thanks again for the help and suggestions so far.

Vans are sold new with certain accessories such as hook-up lead, external pump connections, BBQ plug, steady brace, jack etc. Of course there is no guarantee that these will be provided on a second hand van and there are other things you may need which are
not standard such as a battery. So,  it's not just the pump you have to worry about. All can be purchased and not too expensive but always as well to check what is included. Good luck.

Ring your local Adria dealer, and just ask them what sort of submersible pump your model has.  I'm sure they'll be only too happy to help.  You need a local dealer - if there are other problems you may need their support to find other bits and pieces you need.

There is a bid dealer in Hitchin, who does all the Adria models - Venture Caravans, telephone: 01462 452 856.  Not that near to you, but a possibility if you bought from 340 miles away anyway!

I would assume the van will have an onboard tank?

Reading the owner's manual it mentions 2 different ways a tank can be filled, either with a hose or by connecting a pump.

If this is a UK spec van, I would expect it to use a pump, a "Truma Ultraflow" was mentioned, along with a drawing of the connection point on the side of the van.

Once there is water in the tank, there must  be an onboard pump to deliver water to the taps, although this was not specifically mentioned.

It also said that the external pump allows you to use  directly  from Aquaroll , but again no explanation of how this works.

The manual I found was a Danish one, so have not posted a link to it.

Having read a bit further, it would seem that the onboard pump is a submersible in the water tank itself.  The operation of the system is on a panel and you set it to do what you require.

When using direct from outside, the internal submersible pump is out of the loop and the external pump supplies direct to the taps etc.

Rather than possibly buy an unnecessary or incorrect pump, I would take along a small container of fresh water to use on the overnight stop.

Heating system will be an Alde boiler, as long as it has sufficient glycol in it, you can use heating, there is no need to fill the water system first.

I would not use the water system before thoroughly cleaning it.
