Hi

I was wondering if any one has has had the same problem with tv reception with the following

the aerial was fitted at the factory by Elddis for a Avtex tv, which i got from the caravan dealer, who are no longer trading ( Scotland)

I have tried every thing i can think of, but to no avail Any advice would be great.

You need to tell us about the antenna (aerial) you have installed. (rather than the TV).  Also what are the circumstances/location?  Was it working OK in the same location previously?  Far more details needed I'm afraid.

An Avtex ariel or better still is a stick ariel on the caravan roof, lots of owners complain about them, my only comment, I get a very good signal for the radio, older Avtex TV so use a sat. receiver and dish.

Go on to the Elddis website and look at the U tube thingy, where an Elddis engineer explanes how to get a good signal with the stick aeriel !!!!!

You cant get a good tv signal with a stick! Not unless you sit right next door to the transmitter. The only ariel worth a jot, is a log periodic.

interesting...on our van, i dont actually know where the aerial is...

there is no external one that i can see, not on the roof, no saucers or directional flat aerial....

so, it must be built in somewhere....

however, as Salisbury last week, both our pals were struggling to pick up more than a dozen decent channels (break up etc) despite much angle/direction twiddling, while our tv picked up its usual 100+ tv/radio channels without a hitch.....

i just wish i knew where it was...curious....

I think you'll find it's a short 6" wire, looking like a radio aerial, in the centre above your windscreen.

We usually use our auto satellite dish but if for some reason that is not possible, high wind, trees, we use this Avtex aerial which has proved very effective the couple of times we have used it. It s also set up to take its power from the Avtex TV.

Rogher, there is no external aerial to be seen anywhere.....

on our previous Ducato, the radio aerial was in the wing mirror....perhaps its inside one of our 'bus' mirrors?

That's the benefit of a Avtex stick aerial, they are unobtrusive

There has been comment on forums regarding Eldiss caravans getting poor reception from the aerial. Not sure if yours is one but I would check with another Eldiss dealer to see if they can supply you with what is needed. A search on here might get you the
    answer.
