Are you sure you want a washer? Can you not use the club laundry's even if you only book for a night to do so? I know we are do things differently but I wouldn't bother. Also on site there'll be driers too if the weather is inclement.

I have a bucket to wash the undies - nice hot water and leave them to soak doesn't take much to wash small items like that - and then a commercial wash for larger wash. But I guess it very much depends on how long you are going to be away for.

Too expensive, and if items are hand washed club washers will not spin only. Also need something for extended away days on cl's

Some of the washers do a single spin for £1 on club sites, not all as yet but the newer machines all have that facility. Its a question I put to the club in June of this year, a list of the sites that can do this, of course I'm still waiting for them to
come back with a reply I agree £4 for a wash and £1 for a tumble (you need 2 cycles) is far too expensive if you are doing a lot of touring.0 -

When we go away we take enough clothes for the duration of our holidays and do the washing when we get back, why wash clothes when you are on holidays?? If needed then there is the clubs washing rooms.
No being funny but if we did this we would have to tow a flipping big trailer we go away for 3 months twice a year. Not everyone goes for just
2 weeks.0 -

I cannot offer you any recommendations, as I’ve never had one. My thoughts are that, if you were to look around, you may not see many folk with one and there must be an explanation for that.

Cannot remember ever seeing one on site. Given the potential size and the limited space in a caravan or motorhome they have always seemed just too much trouble.

Pathfinder, the first line of your OP states,"Good evening fellow campers seeking thoughts" and to be fair I think that is what you have got. You may not find some of the posts helpful but they are hardly off topic so I am not convinced the thread needs closing?

Your post did ask for thoughts, and most have posted their thoughts, so far no one who has posted uses a portable washing machine, maybe someone who does will post very soon, but I would draw conculsions from the replies given so far. Requesting the thread
is closed because you don't like the answers defeats the object of posing the question. Rant over.0 -
Sorry, Pathfinder I have never needed any washing machine in my Motor/vans == I use a couple of "Laundry sacks" from a firm called 'Nauticalia' !!
These are marked "One Week" "Two Weeks" "Three Weeks" "Naked" at regular intervals and I must admit I find the demarcations very accurate indeed.

We got our on e-bay and cost £89, but I see that they are now available for £75 try this link, you might have to copy & paste it to get it to work. Would definitely recommend one if you intend being away for extended periods. It works really well!!! :-

We have this one, bought about 6 years back. It travels under the bed and we use it in the shower room, draining the water into the shower tray.
It washes and spins very well.
It can use a lot of water if you need to do several rinses, unless on a serviced pitch I usually take the clothes to rinse in the big laundry sinks.
We find we need to use a site machine every so often for our king size duvet cover, large bath towels, and my jeans as they are very heavy when wet.
I believe Nellie and another David have a slightly different one that can take a heavier load, which would be better.

Like TG, we go away for extended periods, usually a trip of anything from 2 to 4 months every year, plus a couple of shorter trips.
Apart from the cost of always using site machines, we have found that many of them do not rinse well and we get specks of soap powder left on the clothes/bedding.
Another problem is that if you wash a full site machine load it can easily be far too much to fit onto a small rotary airer, so much better to do smaller loads more frequently.
Hate using the dryers as the site machine spin is not that good and it takes a long time (and a lot of coins) to get things dry.
When wet we just put the airer under the Fiamma canopy, where it still benefits from any breeze.
For 100% dryness, if necessary, we then hang things on the towel rails above the CH radiators.
We only need to wash clothes if away longer than 3 weeks as we can carry enough stuff to cover that length of time.
OH has a marathon washing session when we return in that case!!

We do much the same at present, but my wife is beginning to suffer with arthritis in her hands which makes hand washing much more difficult. I guess we will be using on-site washing facilities much more in the future.

Yes David my hands are feeling their age too! One tip I use from way back is to put stuff in a towel and wring and twist that that but you need space to dry the towel too! A machine would be low priority unless I regularly went away for longer periods but they do look good for that.

I have a builder’s bucket that is used for all sorts of things, including washing. Nice and light, too.
You could use a large container with a sealed lid. Put your clothes in (with water and suds) before moving on. Let the washing take place ‘automatically’ as you move (with the container in the shower).
