Bathroom door catch

Morning,

My bathroom door catch has started playing up. Sometimes it`s very difficult to release from the inside, sometimes it`s fine. Sometimes it`s difficult to secure from the outside too. It`s a catch with two rods exciting up and down to engage on pillars on the top and base of the door frame.

Are these generic catches or do I need to have a specific catch? The van is a Coachman Amara if that makes any difference.

Many thanks, Si

My Coachman Pastiche is most times now very hard to lock and then found out why !

The door hinges had become loose allowing the door to drop .

Many thanks, I`ll give that a look.

My wife almost got stuck in the toilet on our last trip. I was away refilling the Aquaroll and emptying the wastemaster so couldn`t assist her.

I thought it was quite funny. She didn`t.....

As described I think you are talking about a generic item that comes in various pieces; the main bit, the two rods and the fixed pillars.

However, as suggested the "issue" could so easily be settlement with the hinges, or the need to refine the adjustment slightly.

Best by far sorted before next trip!

In my case it is always the carpet rucking up a little and fouling the bottom of the door.

I had this problem with a wardrobe door.It may be that one of the catches that rotate around the pillar isn't releasing fully. Hold one rod and check the play on its catch. Do the same with the other and compare. The rod may look plastic but is metal with
a plastic tube trim; the catch is just plastic and may require replacement

Just to bring this to a close...

I bought a generic centre mechanism from ebay (considerably cheaper than my local caravan spares shop) and it was all swapped over in about 10 minutes. It`s now working perfectly.

    Roll on spring-time!
