Increase in Membership fees
Hi All,
We have ordered our MH for delivery in March 2017.
We haven't yet joined the club because we don't want to waste 3 months of membership before we get our MH. But I believe CC fees go up every January and I was wondering by how much. If its a fair bit then we might as well just join the club before 01/01.
Thanks.

To be honest, compared to the cost of a MH, a £ or 2 on the membership fee is a tiny spot in the ocean. I thought you were favouring C&CC as there are so many things about CC you're not happy with.

The membership is for a year from the day you join, so you may think you will pay more if you wait, the second year you will have saved, that is the logic I have come to understand since being married
On that basis don't join until you actually have your new MH, which may not be on the date you expect, notoriously they are late.
When we bought a MH we joined the C&CC for the first year to basically learn the ropes, never renewed it as we found more freedom without a club.
When we converted to the caravan we joined the CC for the first year to learn the ropes, however we continued our membership and this second year we have made more use of the CL network. Maybe we are older and wiser or just too busy with a young family to
have to do too much leg work.0 -
yes outfits fees with far far outweight amy increase in site or membership fees. So you can either enjoy your new MH and/or sites or be grumpy like some about a few pounds. And you don't have to join the club if you're not happy with the increase or if its a a site don't go.

We've ordered a Bailey Autograph 75-2 which has 2 travel seats and a fixed bed. We wanted a fixed bed because we didn't fancy making a bed each night. The Bailey has everything else that we wanted such as a fully fitted kitchen with a large fridge
- freezer. We went to the NEC show in October and were going to order a Caravan but backed off because the size of Van we wanted would have meant us buying a new tow car. What you say about the few extra pounds that membership costs against the cost of a MH is spot on and had put things into perspective for me.
I dont recall saying I would prefer the C&CC over the CC but I might have done.

The MH sounds good, FB.
You were certainly weighing up which club to join and seemed to favour C&CC because you appeared to dislike CC's booking system so much. You could, of course, join both as many of us do.
I believe you have a dog and you will find both clubs welcome our canine friends with open arms.

We intend to head down to Cornwall as much as we can next season. Last year we spent a week just outside Padstow and we had the most fantastic week. The Beach at Padstow was lovely (however Rick Steins fish and chips were poor). We also intend to visit Anglesey
as much as we can. Its about 2 hours from us and we love its tranquility. As for which club to join most of our friends have said the CC is better because their sites are a bit more structured and you know exactly what you're getting through the CC with consistency throughout their sites.
PS can anyone fix the spell checker on this site

Spill chocker? I thought you'd know by now it never works.
What site did you stay on near Padstow? As for Stein, who can afford that?

We were in the area 2 years ago. Looked at Steins menu and some claptrap about simple unspoiled fish together with a menu of currified, chillifried, modified dishes

The most the Club has increased the subscripion by in the last few years has been £2. Given they have to raise an extra £1M a year to meet new legislation, I think £2 could be about right for 2017 making it a cool £50 and putting about £750,000 into the piggy bank?

Next time you're in the area, St Mawes has a nice Club site (and down the road there's an even nicer indepenent one) My point is that if jump on the ferry and cross to Falmouth, head for the best Chippy in Britain, the Harbour Lights!! (Other Chippy's are available BUT, they're not in the same league!)

Exeter Racecourse is a nice Club Site as well, worth membership fee in itself in our opinion. Like you, we changed to a MH a couple of years ago. Have only the one regret, we bought a Canadian Canoe just before we decided on MH, but it is proving just too
high to take canoe with us. Ironically, we bought it off a couple who were selling it because they couldn't get it up onto their MH! Got to have a bit of a rethink on this one!0 -
You can get inflatable canoes. Decent quality ones look reasonably durable.

It's a shame not to be out there paddling away although this end of the year may not be ideal.

We are members of both clubs and they both have their pros and cons. If you think you will have a decent number of nights out I would try both and see which you prefer. In general any increase at the new year is not enough to make most people join early.

Yes, we looked at a few CY. We did hope to take the dogs with us though, as we used to down in Cornwall, so we're a bit wary of claws puncturing.

A Dogs claws would need to be filed to a very sharp point to puncture the Sevvylors(spelling alert) I've used.

The CC membership fees have not really increased by much. Have they ???
Cheers ......................K
Have to admit I have never checked. I am captive as the caravan is stored on their site and I have to be a member to do that so if it goes up I just have to grin and bear it.

Given they have to raise an extra £1M a year to meet new legislation
Not seen this - what new legislation? Not more elfs I hope

Perhaps it's do do with the new Minimum Wages, that are due to come into effect next year.

But FB likes it here. He'll stick around I'm sure.

The annual increase is usually about 5 times the inflation rate.......unless they want to raise some extra funds.
Last year it was a 4.3% increase......4.8 times the current rate of inflation.
So has it gone up by 5% year on year for the past decade then?? (If 'The annual increase is
usually about 5 times the inflation rate')0
