Why do they call it "a Holiday"
In communications the CC refer to site bookings in the context of a "holday" as in "enjoy your holiday". Why do they do that ? Is our hobby not the pusuit of a leisure activity and/or an alternative lifestyle. For me a campervan trip should be an adventure,
something exiting, possibly reasonably hard work, planning, driving cooking or whatever. I don't like the term holiday at all and for me itn indicates a lack lof understanding of the ethos of what I (and probably many others) do. Or is it just me ??

Every day is a "holiday" - life is too short already.

Think it's just you. I consider all my trips out in the caravan to be little holidays.

We don't refer to our trips away with the van as a holiday, but others do.
It doesn't bother me though, holidays to me are something I fly to. Trips in the van are just well 'trips in the van' living in a differant place doing differant things.
For many though especially those who still work going away as a family it is a 'holiday' isn't it.

Everytime we go away to another area, be it in the van or to a cottage or to an hotel we treat it like a holiday. Why not, holidays are to be enjoyed. They are fun.
To me "trips" mean "day trips" in the car . Enjoyable they may be, but I would not class a day trip as a holiday.
Cheers .......... K

So do you have an alternative wording to"enjoy your holiday"? To me, any trip of longer than 1 day in the van is a holiday. I'm not at home, where I might just see something that needs dusting, cleaning or hoovering, so to me it's a holiday. We go away
for 4 or 5 days, sometimes a fortnight, and twice a year for about 7 weeks. Each and every one of those I call a holidayOn a different note: we don't appear to receive those "enjoy your holiday" emails anymore.

ging away somewhere different and doing something different is a holiday. Well it is to me.

'Holiday' derived from Holy day, not for working. If i go away it's a holiday, no work whatsoever-just pleasure

Since I retired I consider I am on permanent holiday. So no problem with them referring to bookings as such. However, if I was still working, I think I would definitely consider each and every break a holiday. So I am afraid it's just you.???

Sorry, BVM, this is another vote for it's just you.
I can think of a lot of things to get worked up about but being told to enjoy a holiday isn't one of them.

I always regarded a holiday as a break from work so having been retired for a few years (although still doing consultancy work) I tend to say "we're going away for a while". Friends and colleagues still working reply ..."enjoy your holiday" those retired say "enjoy your trip".

Being retired we don't have holidays, we just go and live somewhere else for a while.

And another one. All our trips away are holidays, even though we're retired and no longer work, apart from cleaning the van that is.

For us it's a holiday not a hobby!
We both work full time and go away as a family 'on holiday' during the school holidays ........ so yes, we refer to our time away in the caravan as a "holiday". Definitely not a 'hobby' for us. Oh, and I don't have an issue with the emails the CC send

...we dont 'holiday' as such when in the van, we are merely living in a different place....because the van is our home, sometimes for several months...
a cruise would be a holiday, as would a package-type trip abroad....i think anything where i might pack a suitcase..
when away from home touring, we are merely 'in the van'... even if this is for three months or more...
