Members' handbook
Hi all,
we joined the CC in may/june but have just realised thatvwe have been sent the members handbook for 2015-2016. This only has prices valid until Dec 2015 after which it says they will be changed so our book was at least 5 months out of date at time of recieving
it.
anybody else noticed this when they got theirs? Going to call the club tomorrow and get a new one but felt it strange they would still be sending old stock out that late in the season

Save yourself a phone call. You have the latest handbook edition.

that seems a bit stupid to me as the info is out of date already. The wife was looking at a site and wanted to know price but it said it was only correct until Dec 2015 so until 2017 all books will be wrong and therefore a waste of time and money. Whats
the point in printing all those books when you may as well just get a list of sites and referall to website for correct info0 -
The prices can be out of date the moment the book is published.
No way around that so most ring the site to check on the latest prices. Even web sites can carry out of date info but there is no real excuse for that.
By the way, if you really want to tear your hair out, check out the fluid / dynamic pricing on the Camping club sites.
Someone must have been on the Ryanair customer service course to come out with that one!

It is an extremely valuable/essential publication for members without the internet.
It is very useful for members who don't have the internet when out and about.
If the price rise in the second year is critical to you and you haven't got access to the internet the CC and the sites are all contactable on the phone....numbers in the book!
Have a lovely holiday

Wasn't there a supplement issued with 2016 prices in it - or is that a figment of my imagination?

I do agree that it is a great guide for those without internet but if it is that far out of date then why bother printing prices at all??
It was just an obsevation that i hadnt realised that in the middle of 2016 we were getting old info, I just thought they were shifting old stock on new members LOL. Didnt realise either that it was a Bi-annual book so yeah saved me a call.

If you have Internet you can go on cc website and download a 2016 price up date ,or as we did ring East Grinstead and they sent us a copy in the post , as already stated the Handbook is a Biannual publication , there was until this year a supplement issued,I do not think any one has yet come up with a response as to why it was discontinued, the 2017/18 Handbook should come out in December

Ah, yes, I remember now. Thanks Fysh and JVB for jogging the grey cells there.

As far as I know they have knocked the supplement on the head.
Might be wrong on that though.
No they have a supplement which you can obtain be contacting Hop and asking for a copy to be posted to you. I am surprised that new members do not get a copy sent with their out-of-date Site Directory.

The supplement is just 12 A4 pages of prices run off on computer I think. Quicker and easier just to hand write prices of favourite sites into old book. We did ours earlier, just totalling up a nights stay. Haven't been on a Club Site since February, prices
gave us a shock! New HB will be out soon enough, much to delight of all those new CL owners!0 -

caravan owners. We just bin ours unopened every time. I think one year we did keep it but it never got out of the wrapping so we dont even bother to unwrap it now. I would be happy if the CC followed the CCC and did a cheaper online only membership as the magazine
usually goes straight in the bin too.0 -
Some still like it! We found an old one in our MH and left it in info cabin at Ferry meadows. It had gone 24 hours later when I took a magazine back!

Some members may not use the book but I would think most of us do refer to it from time to time. Given the cost of producing and posting it possibly an opt out option might save the club some money. Not sure how many would need to decline receiving it to
make it worthwhile but it might be worth asking those on line if they want one.0 -
I like it to hand on passenger side so that OH can check the advised route as we near a site

Like our National Trust and English Heritage books ours rarely gets opened. I would not have a problem doing away with any of them as we tend to use the apps, which all work offline and should be much more up to date. I would do without the NT and EH for
no benefit, as they are charities, but would expect a reduction on Membership if I opted for no CC book.0 -
When we are away in the van its so easy to pick the Directory off the shelf and look up the sites in a particular town. Same with the Nat Trust book. I just wish they would publish it annually as it is so out of date so quickly.

I have a small nylon briefcase which contains the handbooks for CC,EH,NT and the van. Plus the lead, handset and switch for the motor mover and a spare set of van keys. Lives in the car when on tour.
