Reliability survey where is it?

I am as disappointed as anyone and sincerely hope that the survey is actually published in a form that members and the industry can make use of.
I do think that with the online nature of the survey (I don't recall a paper version which would have been a bit silly these days?) responses should have been designed to go straight into a database which could have been easily interrogated by standard software
if there were 40, 400, 4000 or 4 million responses. If I recall correctly, there were some free responses which are much more difficult to analyse automatically but all of that is down to the initial design of the survey.
Possibly the cost of setting up a database that complex might have been to expensive if there was no guarantee it would be a regular event. Pc spread the cost by having it sponsored previously by a broker and now by the insurance section of a club with one
more C than this one.0 -

I don't believe it's rocket science or that expensive and you don't need any database skills to collect the data.
Sites like Survey Monkey make it simple and appear to have very reasonable rates - max of about £1000 for the best package (https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/pricing/?ut_source=header)
The skill comes in knowing what to ask and analysing the reponses to tease out the trends and patterns.

I can we'll see that a Caravanning "club" with multiple objectives, geared to its members wants and needs, might be overwhelmed by unexpectedly large volumes of data from a survey which wasn't a regular part of their annual workload.
Now let's suppose that, following analysis, some significant issues were discovered and quickly published. How many howls for manufacturers to take action would we see on this site? Would it be constructive to seek out solutions and remedys from manufacturers
before an onslaught of criticism descends on them. How might a natural bias towards criticism over praise be balanced so as to create a meaningful result? I don't know why it has taken the CC so long to publish results, but I am prepared to consider the outcome,
fairly, when it's received. It's at that point that we might criticise or praise, when we understand the facts. Meanwhile I think everyone is agreed on the need to expedite publication.0 -
We were promised the results at the end of the summer and are now well into autumn. Have I missed them? If I remember correctly it was May 2015 that I filled in the survey. It seems a very long time to wait for results. Two new issues of vans have happened in the meantime.

From my experience of data gathering surveys at academic level it was always part of the initial proposal, never mind the detailed one, as to what was to be done with data. How it was to be stored and entered, how it would be analysed and what sort of results
could be obtained. Proposals just would not be accepted without this basic item, even for a student doing an Honours year. Surely the CC is not working below that level?0 -
Maybe we'll get it when the new version of CT comes out!

Do many people actually read CT? Im being serious, mine gets shoved threw the postbox I remove the plastic bag and stick it straight into the recycle bin.
The CC should look at offering discount membership if you dont want the mag just like CCC do.

Does my memory fail me or was there not a prize to be awarded to some hapless individual chosen at random from those completing the survey/ If so, own up! Who got it?

I think you are getting things mixed up there, Stewart. CT refers to this forum, not the club magazine. We've been promised an upgrade to it since "The wee man left Paisley" if not before and we're still waiting.

Write your comments here...A discount for not taking the magazine would not work. It would reduce the circulation and lose advertising revenue and as a result it might actualy cost thd club money.

it's working for the Camping and Caravan Club they have been offering a magazine posted membership or a discounted electronic membership for 2 seasons now.

Write your comments here...We are also members of the C&CC. They have been successful for a couple of years at offering two levels of membership fee. A more expensive one for paper transactions including a printed on paper magazine .----- and a modern 21st century digital membership at a more reasonable price.
Perhaps the difference between the CC and the C&CC is down to the average age of the membership of each organisation.

Does anyone really think we are going to learn something new from the survey?...Im not a betting man but i bet Bailey Swift Eldiss will be the top three most troublesome vans.....only to be expected as they are the volume sellers. Its a dealer survey we
need to let us know how they perform when problems occur.Tj

I would not be surprised if it's never published.
There's a fair chance all the manufacturers had lots of problems and the "club" does not want to get involved with such matters.

Don't know why anyone would expect the top three selling manufacturers to have most problems. I haven't had to return any of my top selling new cars, mobile phone etc, etc for any warranty work and my expectation is that is that they will give me years
of reliable service with regular maintence.Agree with you about dealer performance

Some time to go yet, as the club think recently is over two years ago.
I just happened to glance sideways when reading this thread and there in the margin is an advert for red pennant, referring to a rescue when recently touring ( June 2014) ??

I don't see why this is true. It wouldn't be unreasonable for them to have the most complaints by number. But it is the proportion of complaints for each brand that is important.
My belief is, and it has been since I started this tread, that there is one maker that has come out very much worse than the others.
Anyway not long to wait as Ro stated that it would be published at the end of summer See page 2 of this thread
Actually she didn't she said give feedback to our members at the end of the summer. I've just checked. Which is not the same as publishing the results.

I'm downloading on my pc, no idea about using the app. Pity it wasn't announced on CT, this would have helped everyone on here. You have to look at club news to find it.
hi Brue, Rochelle announced it yesterday: see http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/community/discussions/club-talk/caravanning-events-and-announcements/Results-of-the-Leisure-Vehicle-Survey-are-in/rt/1596396/
