Hurrah for the club
Every day without exception a thread is started critising the club and I have to admit tha,t on occasions, I am one that isn't happy with every aspect of the club. So its about time we celebrated and pointed out the positives of the clubs.

The "Club" has a difficult job to please everyone ,as we all come from different walks of life and want different things , but on balance i am happy with most of what the club does

The old saying "You can please all of the people some of the time and some people all the time but you can't please everybody all the time". We live in an age where those who are not pleased will complain.

Having just renewed our membership after joining last year I have to say we are very happy with the CC. We resisted being members of any club for years but tried the C&CC 2 years ago and found it lacking in many aspects. Having
been pursuaded to try the CC we are grateful and sometimes amazed at the friendliness, not only of the wardens, but of most of the 'residents' on every site and CL we have stayed on. I grumble, like everyone else, when something does not suit me then and
there, but feel there is a lot of work done by the wardens to make life so enjoyable for us, the majority of members. We have seen and heard wardens take unkind critisism for 'not booking in us quick enough' 'cleaning the facilities just when I want to use
them' and 'allowing the birds to wake me at 4:30am' and I honestly don't think I would be as patient as they are. Like all organisations things evolve and can cause issues when changes are made, but hey, it is not life threatening - caravanning is a leisure
pursuit, enjoy it, go with the flow, chill out etc etc...0 -
excellent sites run by wardens who live on site and take a pride in their site. But mainly it's the consistency across all club sites that I like, going to one is never a risk

I agree with just about everything that's been said. Whilst I don't much care for the way CC is run, I think the sites are well worth joining for, whether they be CLs or Club sites.
For some reason it seems to be the in thing to join CC and then post on here saying how terrible it is. Nothing is perfect but, for me, access to the sites network with ease of booking is well worth the membership fee.

Having just returned from a wonderful little CL and having another three CLs in our sights for future trips we are very happy with the CC network. I just hope the downward trend of CLs is halted and more are welcomed by the CC.

The fact that it is uniquely different to the other providers including the comercials!
We don't have to book a minimum number of nights (2 sometimes 3, 5 or even 7 nights on some of the others!
We don't pay a deposit!
We choose pitches from what is available when we arrive!
The fact that those that know specific site requirements, conditions and constraints are sensibly granted, within the rules, the ability to use some degree of discretion!
The fact that it is a club with every member being given the opportunity to contribute or get involved and active in its running should they choose to persue this!

OTOH, I find that boring. I would prefer to take a chance that I may find a particular gem ..... and accept that occaisonaly I might choose a duff. Everyone to his own

Another vote for the CLs and their owners. We love the Racecourse Sites as well, (except Cheltenham).
Big tick for the cheaper no facilities sites as well, Nunnykirk, Marazion, Bromyard, Much Wenlock, etc.....

Red Pennant is very good but over priced. When we went to Ireland we took out breakdown and personal cover not realising the our Nationwide account gave us free personal cover anyway for whole year and not just 31 days.
This year we only took out the breakdown cover, but if we upgrade our account and pay £10 a month, breakdown cover is included and a lot cheaper than RP.
We tend to find that the CC sites are over priced and there are better commercial sites at lower rates however we have never come across a rude or nasty warden on a CC site as most have been very helpful. The CL network is excellent. The CT forum rubbish as it belongs to the dinosaur age!

Drat, can't find anything written so far that I disagree with, even agreeing with Corners about consistency and Vicmallows about finding new gems (usually CLs).
Also agree with TW that the way its run is poor but the wardens are super. We even like some CC members.

Agree with Kennine, the CL network is awesome - just booked to visit Scotland and one site, Dallachulish Farm CL (2030) looks amazing on the Club website.

That's great Rochelle and a lot of kind words are well earned. However do our grumbles get to someone who could deal with them - or should we write to the CC seperately?

For me it is rallies. They have given my wife and I such a lot of good times and we have made so many friends over the years. That is before I take account of the excellent insurance services, Mayday and CL's.

Although I haven't been a big fan of club sites in the past, we have just returned from our first holiday on a C&CC site. What a disappointment - it was the most unfriendly site we have ever stayed on (especially given the strap-line of that particular
club!) and the units were crowded together when this was totally unnecessary given the available space. It was a breath of fresh air staying at Broadway overnight on the way there and back. Everyone spoke - said "hello" or "Good Morning" etc and the atmosphere
was just totally different. I still prefer the relaxed atmosphere of CLs, though, and that's my main reason for being a member of the Club and am happy to pay my subs just for that privilege.0 -
I once asked someone on a C&CC site why they were pitched so close, they said the warden had told them about the "six metre rule".
Silly beggars thought it meant they HAD to pitch six metres away from the next unit. I explained it meant six metres MINIMUM not MAXIMUM.
Could that be why they were all so close I wonder. Mind you there is a strong "herding" instinct with some campers. Perhaps they are scared of the dark

Fysherman - no this wasn't the campers - this was totally down to the Site Manager (Warden) who positioned everyone. The vans were so close that by the time the cars were parked in between the units, there was hardly room to open the car doors! Totally
ridiculous and unnecessary given all the other space elsewhere. I shall be thinking long and hard before I ever contemplate using a C&CC site again. I have moaned in the past about some Caravan Club sites being a bit tight for space - but nothing as bad
as this.0
