BBC2 Tonight (closed)
Congratulations on confirming what a lot of non caravanners think of us. A bunch of dork misfits. I couldn't believe what I was watching, moreover, how could the CC collude in this drivel.

Well we are enjoying the programme and what's more I would like to see most non caravanners reverse an articulated vehicle with speed and skill.

I'm absolutely outraged by this programme. It paints us as a complete bunch of idiots. How can you conceivably put all these different rigs in a 'competition' against each other. Why would you want to anyway. As a vanner of 30'years I am just appalled that
the Caravan Club has associated itself with this drivel. It's wasn't even entertaining I just felt like dying of embarrassment. If you want to compete then have classes - manoeuvring, pitching or whatever but by rig compare vans, compare motor homes but under
no circumstances mix all rig types up it makes no sense.i am deeply disappointed in the club that it has allowed this nonsensical stereotyping of caravanners to be aired on television.

seeing the cc chairman on this crap program makes me realise why the club sites are so regimented .who measures the sides of the awning to make sure both sides are the same.and that guy with his 81 year old mother i would not trust him on a push bike letalone
towing a caravan.0 -
It was that bad I had to watch it to the end. Even the narrator was quietly taking the mick. Perhaps the club could run a competition to see who has the longest check-list.
On a serious note it defies belief that the Club would sanction such a load of insulting drivel. I will be removing my CC badge first thing in the morning - after all who wants to advertise allegiance to such a bad error of judgement.

We had a very entertaining hour, but only due to micky taking whatsapps floating about between various caravanning members of the family.
Seriously, though, the standard of the programme and the way people are portrayed by television types should have been something the club was on its guard against, This has done a great disservice to our hobby. Given the history on the BBC with Jeremy Clarkson
etc the warnings were all there.0 -
I kept expecting Jeremy Clarkson to pop out as it was the sort of programme he would make. How could our chairman lend himself to such drivel? The reversing section was to be expected in such a programme but is our chairman so anal that he thinks all those nooks and crannies should stand up to a white glove and the awning be three inches all round. I thought it was going to be for proper caravaners. And where did they get some of the contestants from? And these were the finalists! I hope they paid Andy Harris enough for it to be worth his while to lose the respect of caravan and motorhome owners that he has built up over the years.

That was a total embarassment.
And what idiot would attempt to climb a very muddy grassy slope with a large caravan outfit.
Yes you guessed it none other than the Chairman of the CC!
I for one hope that the club does' not cover the cost of repairs to his van.

Well he has the video evidence to show the insurers it was an unavoidable accident.

Very unfortunate... set the image of club back many years. Resign!!!

How stupid to pitch caravans against motor vans in reversing competions, at the very least different types into varying classes but lets hope its a one off and lessons clearly learnt.
No cleaning of caravans on pitches , clearly this rule can be bent if the need arises.
Red face award , guess who will win this.

You can imagine what happened here. BBC producers think let's make an amusing program about those funny eccentric caravan types. Reel in the old folks that is the Caravan Club senior hierarchy, sell them the 'it's a lighthearted take on caravaners' all good fun and a bit of a jape.
Result being the producers and BBC get what they wantEd all along; a bunch of caravaner types looking like total idiot's.
All stereotypes accounted for. Good old BBC make us all look like the fools you think we are and all without Clarkson.
Also notice that no younger caravaners (under 55) were asked to participate.
what a load of old to tosh!
