Outfit
I keep being pestered to add my out fit to my profile, why?I know how long it is and the width, I also check for any limitations on size at sites which I may visit, it is under 8 meters in length so should fit on most sites, wish they would leave alone cannot
sleep at night worring about this.

Ha Ha, don’t worry H128, CC like to know these things for when you make a booking. Give them a larger size and you’ll get
more room on your pitch (just joking). They also ask for your registration number? At least they don’t ask for our inside leg measurements.0 -
Similar to always being asked for the tow car registration number when booking in on site. I'm not sure what on earth use that is as the tow car rarely stays on site. If I'm on my own the tow car is needed back at home and I either have my little motor
with me or I do without, depending on where I am.0 -
mybe it is just happens to me, but two things about the booking page, one it has my outfit listed but the check box is always set to 'other' and as soon as I type my car reg number it comes up??

Apparently it is so that you cant give your membership cards to another couple to use with their outfit. Its not perfect but would at least cause an efficient warden to ask a few questions if the registration number of the arriving outfit was not the one
declared on the membership details.0 -
now, K, even for a club-lover (and yes you can use that) like me, I can't believe that there is any warden who is so efficient that they actually check your car number plate against their records when you arrive
Anyway if that happened something like I've just swapped cars, I've hired a tow car, its my dad's .... would suffice
Likewise do they check the outfit details against their records?

I can see the point in the outfit details. Some sites, such as Berwick have a significant number of short pitches. When we arrived we were given a plan highlighted with the pitches suitable for our van. It made it much easier to decide what pitch we wanted.
I can see less point in the tow car registration, presumably in most cases this should match the number on the caravan and if you were swapping cars, as JJ does, you would inform the warden.0 -
except for caravans from Holland (I think) where each caravan has its own number plate.
But good point Steve, I will amend my details to show I don't tow an Airstream

It would be very poor management if on a site with varying pitch sizes I didn't provide a suitable pitch to suit the size of outfit, that is why you provide outfit details. With regards to registration numbers, I am also responsible for security on site
so any vehicle I am unsure of can be checked on our system. I'm sure you'd be a bit unhappy if your outfit was taken by an unknown to me vehicle. I'd also think it a common courtesy to inform the site staff of any changes.Membership cards are asked for at booking in as a means of ID. if I'm unsure I will ask for another form of ID.
We do regularly check outfit details against records held.

I stand corrected, the club is even better than I thought!

Actually, it does sometimes happen, Corners. Last year at Cirencester when I arrived I was greeted with "Hello Mr M....."
I said "oh, am I the last arrival today, then?"
No, replied the nice lady warden, "I just saw your car registration!" (And, no, it's not a personalised one!)

I personaly think it is sensible to take note of the tow car and any other vehicle moving on and off site. Information gathered can be used as a deterrant against misdemeanour's.We the members have everything to gain and nothing to loose if law abideing.

We changed our tow car after we booked our summer holiday and when we arrived at the CC site to book in, they actually pointed out to me that the registration was different! As we had only picked our new car up days prior to our holiday I couldn't even
tell the wardens what the new reg was!0 -

Similar thing happened this year when we arrived at Clumber. It's easy for the warden to check the reg number against owner as both are listed on their arrivals' print-out.

Not sure what tbe problem is. The information is hardly secret and takes seconds to input. The only thing I would change is the computers habit of assuming I am bringing a different caravan to the one logged into the system and making me go back to that.

And having to put in the same car number every time.

Maybe they think everyone goes abroad and will need the dimensions/Reg number for the ferry/tunnel
Doesn't help when booking ferry online, length and height have to be entered - and then can't even remember these while searching for ferries. Each time you go back and search for another ferry you have to re-enter details.

When we have gone abroad we have always booked by phone so have not had to deal with the web site. The girl on the other end just looked up the caravan details on the computer and checked that we were taking that but no more as she had the dimensions. Have
to say it was a better way to book as she was very helpful and found us a far better and cheaper ferry than the one we would have booked otherwise.0 -
the way I see it as long as my unit will fit on all the pitches in the network they do not need to know, it will not cause a problem
