How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I think the CCC is great for tent camping but I think the Caravan Club caters better for caravanners.
as a MHer, i couldnt say how well (or badly) either club serves tenters or caravanners.
personally, we are generally served eqally well by both...though each have elements that could be improved by studying the other...

" ...so, in effect, an extra day.....weather still wonderful (after the rest of the week).....should we stay another day....? "
With such glorious weather I'd stay an extra day as there's no need to pay for EHU.please, take what you wish....
members can stay late whichever pitch they are on, and some have done so...
flexibility is not pitch type dependant....
Do I take it then, by the way you swerved the question, that you were on an EHU pitch, even though you had the option of non EHU? Nothing wrong with that, mind, it's exactly what I would do!
as you've asked twice (so are obviously 'keen' to make your point) I'll give you a straight answer ......
i was on a HS EHU pitch, for two reasons.....
one....all the HS pitches on site are EHU....its been very wet and the grass pitches are closed.
two...being an advocate for choice, I'd choose EHU at this time of year, shorter hours of sunshine refreshing batteries and higher demand due to longer hours of dark, cold and TV....
for a couple of days, in winter, no problem but we were on site for a week.....
now, a 6A supply just to keep the batteries up would have done the job...a good winter compromise....
in summer....a different scenario again.....hence the desire to be able to choose a best fit...

Thanks for making that clear BB.
So you expect the CC to provide non EHU pitches just for a small number of customers, just during summer months then? Hardly seems worth all the palaver when there are so many alternatives already out there already does it?
lets not cross over into the 'electric' thread here....everything on this subject is being said there, especially the fact that ot isnt really a palaver at all, only to those who dont see the point...

That is one real difference between the two main Clubs actually, both allow camping, but on the CC sites where camping is allowed, the camping area has always been a very long way from the facility blocks! (Leyburn, Wincanton, Tredegar House, as examples)
Makes for a very interesting dash unless you have your own facilities in a toilet tent!Hate to disagree with you tda, but at least at the CC's Morvich site the camping area is just across the road from the toilet block, and much nearer than most of the H/S pitches.

That then is good news Nellie! Not a site we know. I should have put "CC sites we have used" not inferred that all were like this!

What a shame we don't all have your splendid insight BB.....

not insight, Brian....'sight'....I've 'seen' it in action on other sites.

Well spotted BB.......

Another point about the comparison between the CC and the C&CC which has not been mentioned is how they deal with obvious poor parts of the business.
Take their forums for example.
The C&CC reailised that their forum was poor and unfit for purpose and out of respect for their members they took the forum down and it will not be made available until they are satisfied that the members using the forum will have a forum which works properly.
The CC however took a different approach and have done nothing for years about their poor and unfit for purpose forum.
Which organisation has the best attitude towards their members regarding their forum. ???

The problem is, Kennine, if they took the forum down, we would not be able to use it and that would give rise to more complaints. It's better to have a less than perfect forum than no forum at all, don't you think?

Re your point about the two forums. For all the short comings of the CC forum software they had at least given serious thought to member security. On the otherhand it became clear that the C&CC had totally under estimated the need for member security and
that, as I understand things is the reason they took the forum down to address that issue. The C&CC forum only had a soft launch, I suppose to identify such issues so perhaps easier to take it down compared to our own one here. Hindsight is always a wonderful
thing and I suspect forums and their impact have been pretty steep learning curves for both Clubs!!!David

Write your comments here...Malcolm, In my opinion there should be no complaints -- There are loads of caravanning forums on the net, you can get all the same answers to your questions and give advice on every one, so taking one of them off- line until it has been fixed would have no impact.
Besides most of the regular posters, on here, myself included, are also members of other caravanning forums and there is no need to lose contact.
Forums come and forums go - It's no problem. There is never a shortage of forums. -------------------------------------- It's never a good move to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

We're talking club forums here, where there are members who have paid to join and use club sites and other facilities like financial payments, insurance and travel. Security is paramount as the C & CC have found out and hopefully are putting right.

Write your comments here... I can't speak for the other forums as I've never used them. I only learnt about the Caravan Club forum through membership of the club and their invitation to members to join.

I would not want to take the forum down to fix it. I am a regular on other forums under different names but not all contributors here are. If you take this down then many of them will go elsewhere and if they are happy we will lose them from here which would
mot be good.0 -

How can someone disagree with a question ????

I don't consider that to be a valid question.
I'm a C&CC member, but they are really in the baby stages of introducing a forum. After they released their first version, which even then was still in the beta stage, they quickly took it offline again as those members who stumbled across it, including a few who are also CC members, pointed out that they were putting forum members' security at risk.
The C&CC Forum is nowhere near being sufficiently developed to even begin to compare it with CC CT, or to make any useful judgement on what their organisation's "attitude towards their members is" based solely on relative forum development.
I'm sure they'll be OK in time. However, to totally disregard the security implications of the public display of members' identity wasn't really a great start!

When I took up this lovely pastime in the middle of last year I asked many friends which Club, if any, I should join. From their suggestions and recommendations I am glad I chose this one. My main wishes when going away are dog friendly and as few children
as possible ...... none would be even better !I have nothing against children per se indeed I used to be one but at 47 as I grow ever more akin to 'Victor Mildrew' my personal preference is that children should be neither seen nor heard and the CC has provided this peace & quiet admirably.
Perhaps I'd feel differently if we could actually have children and have had the choice to start a family; but we are not as blessed as others, hence our family are all 4-legged
I really enjoy my membership of the Caravan Club and find it matches my needs perfectly

Then there are those that are happy to have children around but not dogs. The again there are the real hardcore cases who would prefer neither dogs nor children or even, in some cases, other caravanners.

I've never come across any problem with either children or dogs on any of the club sites we've stayed on. We see dogs and owners walk happily past us through to the dog walk area and we enjoy seeing them going past. it brings life and activity to the site
and it's the same when children are playing and running around. It's better than being in a deserted place where there is no life around!0 -

What a terrible attitude

I thought that too when I read the post.
