That's a very open question, ajgj, as you give us no clues to your preferences. What has your homework suggested to you so far?
Ideally you should be looking for a car with a kerb weight of 1980kg or more.

This assumes the weight quoted is the MTPLM. If not something heavier although if correct a good 4x4 might be a bit lighter than 85%. The towing limit has to be at least the MTPLM of the caravan but it is not what it can safely tow but what it can restart on 12% slope.

Regarding any tow car's suitability to do the job comes down to two weights. The car's kurb weight and the van's MTPLM weight. One thing to double check is the Vehicle Kerb Weight, sometimes called Revenue weight. Some manufacturers include the driver, some
an amount of fuel in the tank (perhaps 90% full) . It is important to know how the individual manufacturer has come to an individual kerb weight figure. The only really accurate way is to take the van, in full holiday mode (with all items you normally take) to
a public weigh bridge. Weigh the van and car (in full holiday mode) separately and you will know if the outfit is within the recomended peramitters. Hope this helps0 -

Write your comments here...Hi ajgj could you make things a bit clearer.Has you say you have the van now ? what do you use to pull it with now,or do you still have to pick it up?. Having looked at the info on this van the MTPLMW is 1690 as you quoted. So
if you have the relivant license to tow this combined weight then you could get away with a big estate car with a larger engine or as other members have said most 4x4 it's what you feel most happiest in.Steve
