Audi q7 4.2 TDI mpg
I am considering buying a Q7 4.2TDI does anyone run one and what MPG do you get towing? i appreciate BHP and MPG move in opposite directions and it’s a compromise. i wouldn't want to buy one only to discover the MPG is in the middle teens. Can anyone enlighten
me? Thanks. Richard Fox

Not a Q7, but a Cayenne 4.2 V8 - essentially the same engine. I'm getting 32 ish solo, and I got 25 on a trip to Provence with the van on. Better than my previous X5 with the 6 pot diesel. Less in England when towing due I think to constant heavy traffic

23.8 mpg average according to the figures on the Honest John real mpg site.
I expect mid teens to be readily available around town.

I would think HJ's figures depend on which year of make? Economy improves year on year. The figures I quoted above are real. My car has stop/start (deactivated when towing), and also reduces the engine to idle on the over run. These features make a big difference

I`ve always found the figures quoted on there to be pretty accurate, both the cars in our household average more or less what`s listed on that site.
At the end of the day, the Q7 (especially the 4.2 TDI) wasn`t built for economy, it`s a big heavy whale of a thing.

Interesting comments, thanks or your contributions. I know the latest models of the Q7 they managed to strip out over 200+KG in weight. I have a new A6 Avant 2.0 ultra and i get 30 ish. i say ish as I’ve had less and have had 33. i go to lake Garda in Italy
2500 round trip so it’s a trade-off between a good tractor that eats up the miles and a good fuel economy. The amount of BHP ft/lbs of torque the Q7 4.2 has along with air suspension make it a formidable package. I'll keep my eyes peeled for one.0
