Has anyone had any experience of owning and towing with one? Looking around it seems to get mixed reviews, but the 2010 and younger 2.2 diesel look good value.

    Hi, 

    Not had any experience with Patriot, But having been a Grand Cherokee owner for a few years, and recently a caravanner, 

    the Jeeps are good workhorses, my 54 plate pulls like a train........... However,

    One thing I think I must highlight is mind boggling prices of after market parts!!  EG, one power steering hose half steel, half rubber tube, about 60cms long   £98 60 plus VAT!!,

    Power steering pump (for a Merc ML270 Same engine £84)

    For the Jeep........... £398   Sealed

    We had a 2.2 2011Patriot for a couple of years. Great car, pulled our van easily up and down some serious hills. Did into mid 30's mpg towing van, up into mid/high 40's solo. A lot better than some of LR's we have owned! Fast, comfortable, plenty of room
    and good on fuel, cruised motorways a dream. Had no problems whatsoever with it. Found a good garage and service was reasonably cheap, OH did basics like oil change etc.. Why did we sell it? To get a Jeep Wrangler! Would we have another Patriot? Yes, if we
    needed four seats, which we don't now. We always shop around for parts for our Jeeps, including importing things from abroad. Parts comparable to other modern cars. Had no problems. OH says Jeep Compass is basically same car! Go for it!Happy

    Great feedback there, thanks! My 2005 Santa Fe has been so reliable that it is a struggle to find a good replacement at a sensible price. It is a bit juicy though, and expensive on road tax, and over 100,000 miles, but it still has a value so is a good time
    to swap..

    We have had all sorts of Land Rovers and Jeeps. All been really good, some good features, some not quite so good. Ours have worked hard for us towing horses, caravans trailers, and very hilly where we live, plus sometimes a lot of snow! And we play off road
    in ours as well. Love Land Rovers, but way more expensive to buy than Jeeps, and we have found Jeeps like Patriot, Grand C and Cherokee Unlimited very comfortable. Our Cherokee was 4.0 litre petrol, you could hear fuel disappearing if you booted it! But we
    dual fuelled it with LPG and got a lot more mileage per pound, same with one of our Wranglers, that is 4.0 litre, but LPG as well. Great having his and hers Wranglers!Happy
