Your v5 document should give you the unladen weight of the car. There will also be a plate probably on a door pillar that will also give you the total train weight of fully laden car and caravan. From that you can work out if you're legal. Best advice is
to have a caravan that when fully loaded weighs less than 85% of unladen weight of the car. Most cars will be quite adequate for towing if you kepp within these limits.

On the CC's home page select Advice & Training and then Choosing a Vehicle. There you'll find the caravan/car matching link. as below

    1) can you give the car details and 2) what will you do if it isnt an acceptable or legal match? stable door and horse bolted cones to mind!
