My Mondeo entertainment display screen, when I switch off the ignition, comes up with a display saying "battery saver switch off" ..unless I actually start the engine up, I am unable to switch the ratio on...Does anyone know how to override this power saving
facility that Ford have built in .

It is an indication that your battery is low. Needs a charge or replacement.

The vehicle is 12 months old and battery test shows it is in  tip top condition and starts every morning without hesitation so I thank you for your suggestion but I don't think the fault is in the battery.

I was intrigued by this so Googled it . (My 2000 Mk 2 has no such complicationsLaughing)

It appears there is an option in the settings menu to turn the battery saver mode on/off.  It's a good idea in my opinion. I was appalled to note that the Sony car radio in my caravan draws an amaziing 0.7A when in use (whatever volume); and even
    0.3A in 'standby' mode.

    (annoying EDIT timeout........)

However, the message seems wrong. I would have expected it to say that the battery saver mode was 'ON'
    Worried.
