Tow Car of the Year
Just received the latest CC magazine with the TCOY supplelment. In the past there have been numberous complaints of glowing sentiment and not enough critique. However this time there seems to be plenty of objective comment which strikes a good balance between
strengths and weaknesses. All credit to the judges taking into account the number tested within the confines of space available to print the report.

I'll read anything sensible about cars, so I have read it from cover to cover, and I thought it was rather thin gruel.
They have clearly done all the work, at the cost of some time and money, so why not share more of it? Use some of the space in the magazine, and do a page on each car. I'd have liked more information in the table too, especially the plated train weights as at least two of the cars are train-weight limited if the car payload is fully utilised.
What surprised me however, enough to email the club, was the choice of a winner in Class 1 that not only has a towing limit of only 825Kg but also has a train weight so low that if you were to use the full 825Kg (less than the empty weight of any current product of Bailey Caravans, to put that in context) anything more than two average people in the car with a few possessions would put you over the limit.
Apparently the judges thought "the Citroen Cactus was the best towing vehicle in its category, despite its GTW limitations".
I suppose they can only test what is submitted, but I would hope I could find a stronger towcar for under £20,000.
