Vehicle Weight Question

Hi,

This may seem an odd question but I'm a bit stumped so I'm hoping someone can help figure this out.

I've ordered an Audi Q3 and I'm going to hopefully buy a caravan soon. I have a newish liscense so I'm constricted by having MTPLM+GVW no higher than 3500kg.

So heres my issue, I'm not sure of the GVW of the Q3, Audi have an app were I can track the car i've ordered and it lists the weight of the car 2170kg but I was at a caravan dealer last week and he said it was 2200kg. Do you think its ok to trust the Audi
app? I'm hoping someone else has used the app and knows if it is accurate or not! I was wondering if the discrepency was because the dealer didn't have the exact model.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm hoping to look at a caravan with an mltpm of 1315, and it will either be 15kg over or 15kg under depdending on which weight is correct.

Thanks

Laura

I know nothing of Audi or their app but I do know not to take a caravan dealer's word at face value.

    https://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/audi/production/PDF/PriceAndSpecGuides/q3.pdf

    Page 70. (1985kg - 2225kg depending on engine)

Thats good to know, it really thew me because I was sure of my weights before going there. I just out it in on the caravan club matching and it comes up as 2170kg.

The Audi doc from abinitio1980 also says 2170kg so I'm inclined to think it must be 2170kg!

    Thanks

i would take these values over any 3rd party ones with one caveat - until the car is delivered and you can confirm the details from the VIN plate, I would urge on the side of caution (some manufacturers  - I believe - will add the weight of any  factory-fitted
options to the kerb weight and maintain the payload so the gvw may creep up slightly on the VIN)

Yes, the GVW does depend on the engine variant and the figures shown in the literature are always subject to change depending on technical changes in the course of production so the only 100% reliable figure will be the one on the vehicle weight plate.

Given the differences it might be better to check the manufacturers figure when the car is delivered before ordering the caravan.

.hello,as you are new to caravans and towing, have you the correct licence to tow a caravan??.

I have never seen the OP's licence, but anybody who has passed the test to drive a car has qualified for at least a category B licence that allows them to tow a caravan provided that the MAM of the whole outfit is no higher than 3500Kg, which is what this
    whole thread revolves around.

That is precisely why the OP is asking a very specific question regards weights!.
