Kia or something else, appricate comments
Hi guys.
We need something that ticks all these boxes...
Able to tow 2 ton
Less than 30k on the clock
Must be able to do 35+ mpg (empty)
Have 7 seats
And be less than £22,000
The thing I have found is a Kia KX3 or 4
Don't fancy a Santa Fa.
Any thoughts ?

I have a Santa Fe, they're essentially the same car and same parent company! It's a fantastic tow car, transports 7 easily and very versatile

non of the kia/hyundi stable is heavey enough to tow two tons,as the kerbweight is not there,we have a KX2

85% of KW = 1707kg but nose weight is only 80kg. I don't think all the models are the same.
As JVB said, it's the GTW you need to be adhere to as a legal max and manufacturers will state the weight the car is capable of shifting irrespective of legal or safe limits.

I use a Kia Sorento 2005 and no issues and same as the Range Rover Sport, and that's heavy, I think 2 ton and the van puts me at 4 ton, I was told I can do that as I have a class 1

.I just quoted the gov.com website,which states on no account exceed the gross train weight..

A caravan that isn't 2 ton lol......
I was told it was 1.8 empty and 2 ton loaded, but as I am new I took the guys word, just checked and it is 1.6 empty so 1.8 loaded I would guess.
My 2005 Sorento is great, and a 2015 Range Rover Sport is crap !! 2 grand v 45 grand, the Kia wins !!

...What van model is it ?and it should have a plate fitted usually near the door with the MRO/unladen weight and the MTPLM/max weight,the max weight is part of the train weght of your tow vehicle

I explained it in my earlier post. I feel you need to do a bit of homework.
Also, the new Sorento bears very little similarity to the 2005 model and you cannot compare the two.

I use a 2013 KX-2 manual to tow a twin axle with a MTPLM of 1800kg, though normally it runs at around 1700kg. Great tow car, plenty of power, excellent stability and thoroughly recommended. Kia give a 2500kg max towing limit, though that’s way above any
normal recommendation for good outfit matching. The auto versions can still tow 2000kg, so should be absolutely fine for 1800kg. You might struggle to get 35mpg solo with an auto box, though the manual can manage that quite often on a long run. Also, for
£22000, you will be looking at a 2-3 year old car, and KX-4 is only on the latest model.0 -

To clarify, my KX-2 manual has a plated max laden weight of 2510kg, max train weight of 5010kg, and front/rear axle loadings of 1350/1450kg, so the max train weight is the sum of the max laden and max towing (2500kg).

Can't believe what i have just read, what a pleasant individual.......NOT.....!! Shooting the messenger comes to mind, despite his thread title he clearly does NOT appreciate comments which disagree with his view. Leave him to his own devices, just hope when he has an accident it doesnt involve any innocent parties, however hopefully he will be pulled by the Police or VOSA before he gets chance to hurt anyone.
