The NewJaguar F Pace
We are trying to decide on a new tow car upto now always towed with the good old Shoguns. But now we are comming up to pension age time to look at fuel econmy,plus the dreaded Gordon Brown road Tax which for us is £525 a year. We have looked at the Outlander
Deisel a liitle bit light for our 2015 Clubman SB but would do the job The MazdaX5 is also light as is the Rav4. Son inlaw has just ordered the 3Litre F Pace but thats way out of our reach so looking at the 2 litre i, which is more affordable. We will be
going into the unknown as their is very few reports on the F Pace for towing. The weights look ok and the nose weight also, not so sure about the 2 litre engine after towing with the 3.2 Shogun, according to the info l manage to gain it says the 2 litre is
more than capable of doing the job. Is their anyone out their towing with one, would appreciate some feed back

Same engine as the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
I too am just beginning to wonder about the next motor and looking at the F Pace. Like you the 3 lit is a non starter due to cost.
Check out the Porsche Macan as a left field possibillity. It's in the same price region.

You don't have to buy new, there's always the 2nd hand market.
I thought the F Pace was bigger than it actually is in the metal

Not much difference in the second hand market at the present due to it just being released, will probibly take until early next year for them to filter through. For new theirs a 3month waiting list at present, Son inlaw ordered his back in May gets it mid
November, mind you his is the top of the range. Have seen exdemo's around but not much off the original price. When you buy new you lose 17% straight away which is 7480 has you leave the show room thats on a 44k car, l would bet its neare to 20%. l would be
looking at paying 37k in the new year, lot of hard negociating to do0 -
What prompted me to look at the F Pace, Macan, Passat 240bhp 4x4 estate etc is seeing the price of the Disco Sport.
I am a LR fan but just don't see how they can ask (and seemingly get) that sort of money for the Disco Sport.
I also like the Mondeo but its a bit too light for my needs even in 4x4

Ford have recently brought out the Edge, a bit bigger than the Kuga. Don't know the numbers on it though. The Audi Q5 is a fairly chunky beast too.

There was a road test on the Edge recently saying its not suitable for towing caravans but I cannot for the life of me remember why they said this.
It would seem to me to fit the bill quite well and at a reasonable price.
Also plays a mean guitar.

Saw the Edge in the U.S. Last year, on my return, straight to my local dealer to find out when in the UK. Just been out on my first trip with my new Edge Titanium 210 Powershift, pulls like a dream.

Don't know when you are thinking of buying but the system for road tax is changing in April 2017, there are going to be 3 bands, Electric cars costing under £40k, other cars including hybrids under 40k and cars more than 40k. So depending of what you get
it might not make any difference if you buy. Another Shogun.0 -
Basically, if you want a little runabout, buy it now. If a 'big brute', wait until the new regime starts. This could all change with a new chancellor, of course.
