If at 2008 it is the W204 model, then yes.
I am on my third. The first a 2009 Manual C220 Sport Estate, towed the then 1200kg Elddis faultlessly. The latest is a 2012 C220 Sport Estate Auto which was due a change, and now pulling 1400 kg thought it might be appropriate to get something bigger.
But towed over 3000 miles with it this year and I can't fault it, so going to stick with it for a while longer.
Couple of things to consider.
The Sport models have firmer suspension which is considered more stable than the squidgy SE & exec models.
At 2008 it will have the old 5 speed auto. The post facelift 2012 models got the 7 G-Tronic auto which is miles better, much more economical. If you can push your budget to a 2012 facelift, you won't be dissapointed.

I tow with a 2010 C220 Cdi Ellegance Estate with manual gearbox. I agree with Runrig that the 2012 onwards Auto box model would be a much better option, The paper mpg figures put me off the 5 speed auto which is why I eventually found my somewhat rare manual
model. A desicion I have not regretted, averaging 33.65 MPG over 2,916 miles of towing this year.0
