Volvo XC60 ... 2wd or awd?

Looking to change tow car and Volvo Xc60 has good reports and there are some nice 3 year old ones around.

Is the awd a must have option? 

Any other thoughts on this car would greatly help, many thanks....

    Mine is the AWD.

    Didn't consider the 2WD to be honest as I wanted the D5 engine and live in the country so prefer AWD incase of snow.

    I have a AWD D5. Although there may not be many times one needs 4WD, I felt I wanted the assurance of it being there just in case. Great tow car, and love the detachable tow bar, both for looks and I don't walk into if.
