Dear All,

I have a 2013 Nissan Qashqai and all the road lights work OK but the road lights on the caravan do not work, the indicator, brake lights, fog and stop light all work on the caravan. I have tested the 13 pin socket on the car and the lights pins have no power
to them. I suspect a blown fuse in the car but dont know where to look for it.

I'd check the car handbook, ERA.

Try looking behind the rear boot lining panels, this is where the towcars' tow-module and its main supply fuse is often found. Check that the modules' multi-pin plug is fully pushed in, if it has screw connections, make sure they are all correctly connected, as said, check for a main feed module fuse. If could be that the tow-module is faulty? Having said all this, I take it you have cycle'ed the towcars ignition switch first? As this often resets one off faults via the towcars' ECU.

If all fails, it maybe worth your while temporally bridging (linking) pins 12 and 3 within your towcars 13 pin tow-socket externally and then testing the output with a test probe on the other pins, if all then works, you need to bridge said pins within your
caravans' euro plug, this meaning, that your towcars' ECU needs to be told when you connect a trailer so it can allow correct trailer electrical functioning. Some towcars now operate on this system!
