I am new to towing althought I am not phased by it at all, breakdown I imagine will be a fairly stressfull event and I was more concerned if my tow car broke down and was unrepairable at the roadside and had to be loaded on to
a transported what happens to the 'van. Most manufacturers offer a fairly lengthy warranty which includes roadside assistance, but what happens to the caravan, Hyundia, in my case say using AA or Green Flag they would tow the caravan to "a destination" depending
on your level of cover but I wonder what other manufacturers policy would be. As for caravsn roadside assistance I am open the suggestions as to the cover I would need and with who.

CC Mayday is Green Flag with add cover ,as if you breakdown on the way to your holiday in the UK they will take you,car and caravan to your destination, then your car to a repairer, and if not repaired at end of your holidy will do the same from the site
to your home adress or storage and local repairer

Sounds good, it only means thatI am paying for towcar assistance which I don"t need as I already have Hyundia for the next 4 years. Thanks JVB66 for the info.

I think it's best to bite the bullet, forget about the Hyundai's cover & buy May Day cover ..... that way you'll know that if the caravn is the thing that fails, you'll be covered.

...The cover that you get with your car is normally basic cover, most of our cars have had it but we have always had Mayday for reassurance

Another thing to watch if you're relying on your car cover to recover the caravan is whether or not that policy has a restriction on the size of the trailer they will recover.  With Mayday, there is no restriction on the size of the van they will recover.
I have also opted for "Extra Care" on my Mayday policy so that if I am incapacitated in any way, they will provide a driver to recover the car and caravan even if neither have a defect.  Essential in our case because my wife had never towed in her life!

I've had personal RAC roadside & recovery for my car since 1982. They came out & fixed our motorhome once. We exchanged it for a caravan in 2011. Soon after, the car broke down on the M25 whilst we were towing. The RAC put the car on a low loader & brought
us home with the car, towing the caravan back to our nearby storage site en route. It's always worried me what would happen if there was a problem with the caravan rather than the car. Not wanting to change from the RAC, I've finally got round to upgrading
my RAC cover for the caravan by joining the C&CC. The membership subscription gives me automatic cover via their "Arrival" scheme. If you tell the C&CC you're already with the RAC, they give you a code & a number to ring to get the extra cover added to your
    membership.

I am afraid a lot of us have had this problem several times over the years but it may be the only way to protect yourself. Before taki g the Mayday cover though I would ring the Hyundai supplier and check the extent of the cover and see if it can be updated
to cover the caravan unless you want the double recovery which I think can only be taken from either clubs policies.

Broonie a) Check your manufacturer cover, they may cover the trailer but likely only when attached to car (not when out for the day - always a worry) and won't cover caravan breakdown  (what can go wrong? - tyre/wheel bearing, lights, axle  - how likely are these things and can you cope with any yourself?)

    My Standard Answer: ...

AND/OR Safeguard caravan insurance + their bolt on CARAVAN breakdown cover at £65 UK & Europe. Look at it as a package.

    AND/OR

Brittania/LV but, like all, watch out for length of caravan restrictions and check if they mean BODY length or OVERALL length.

    AND/OR

Red Pennant (+ Mayday for UK) European cover but comes at a premium, only for caravan holiday and a mixture of travel, personal, breakdown, trip continuation, replacement tow car etc etc.

Check all the tiny print and ring to ask any supplier if their policy covers what you want.

We just want to be assisted after a breakdown to car or van and brought straight home if repairs can't be made quickly (repatriation is always their choice?)
