People use this site for advice but you always get someone ready with a sarcastic comment . I hope the admin team see this as it would put me off asking for advice if this is the kind of response  I would get.

Come on! VW's emissions scandal has been in the news for months ... impossible to have missed it unless you'd been marooned on an island somewehere

 .... , .. Mollys mummy was a bit sarcastic with her comments and I'm assuming she knows nothing about any of the fixes VW are up to . ....

I neither know nor care as I don't have a VW, but if I did I'd probably take more notice.

And my MOT tester probably knows a few tricks to get the Transit through the test ... he has on my diseasal Astras  Italian Tune ups often
help.

What a shame you cant take a bit of critisism . And i presume you always like to have the last say . And I assume no thanks to you, that Armour has got his polite answer to his technical question off me . Not writing anything else now . x

As I've mentioned elsewhere,  I am waiting before deciding whether to get the fix done on my vw.  I had the 'recall' letter about a month ago but it is not an official recall so you are not obliged to get it done.  Without the fix, cars in the uk will still
be legal and pass their mot - this is the main difference between us and the U.S. - where it would be ilegal and why americans have been paid compensation by vw and those in Europe have not.

Regarding selling the vehicle - some say those that have had the fix will sell easier, whereas others say the pre fix vehicles will do better because of a lack of confidence in vw saying the fix will have no adverse effect on the vehicle.  Personallly, it
does not really bother me as I intend to keep my car for some years and am currently leaning towards leaving things as they are.

Write your comments here...Hi katieb.... Did they say what they would be doing .. I'm curious is it just software or an engine mod ? i've heard conflicting stuff from friends still in the trade . Presume you car doesnt have an Adblue tank . When I was in
charge of recalls at the Volvo dealership where i worked I had to organise three letters and then start phoning customers to try and get them to have mods done , how times have changed . If our Tiguan was issued with a notice i'd do a lot of homework first
. Imediate reaction is not to have it done , dont want to lose any power for towing . In the old days I cant remember any recall being closed so you may be able to have it done a few years down the line .

My Tig is a 2013 model so no adblue.

The fix is to the software for my vehicle but they are now on the mark two version as there were problems with the first, which is why I'm a bit wary about fixing something that works perfectly well and is legal

Have you been on a desert island? 

i only asked what was the fix as i dont know what the problem was as the op never mentioned what it when he posted

 Looks like I touched a nerve & the mods have missed it!

We have a Tiguan (pre ad blue - those blue ones don't need a fix).

The car is on lease and will be returned in the next 4 months.

From what I've read I shall not be getting this noisy fix and shall return the vehicle and let them sort it out with the economical truth merchants VW.
