Sanguine korando
Has anyone got or had a sangyoung korando EX 2.2 4/4 We pick our new one up tomorrow 17Aug and don't know much about them they do get a good write up and won caravan club tow car of the year 2014 I would be interested in what others think to them We tow a swift Chalenger sport 514. We are parting with a KIA Sedona 2010 2.2 and that was a great tow car sadly they have discontinued them Sportage not heavy enough and Sorento too expensive. Just one other thing if you buy a new one before the end of August the caravan club give you a tow bar and electrics.

You'll love it,take no notice of those that don't own a Korando. You get more car/£ and it'll tow your 'van adequately return good mpg and built quality is good too.

I have had a 2.2 SE 2wd manual for three weeks and done 800 miles. Only towed the van locally to the dealer for service.
The car is fine and seems to tow brilliantly but will know more after our trip to the south coast next week.
Owners seem to give them better press than the motoring journalists. They have to say something and from what I've read they are saying that the Korando is not as good as cars costing about four thousand pounds more (for ones with similar towing performance) - fair comment.
One thing about the free tow bar - they fitted mine with a standard ball so I had to shell out 40 quid for an Alko compatible one.
I'm happy

Motoring journalists are over critical when testing cars. The Korando engine is a little noisy from outside but as quiet as our previous car a Kuga when on the move gearchange not as smooth but it rides as well/handles fine but most importantly tows our caravan
perfectly the 80kg noseweight not a problem for us.0 -
I did look into it before we bought it of course and the caravan club gave it the thumbs up it ticked all the boxes on the outfit match report plus it did win tow car of the year for 2013 and 2014 as far as I know so it seems prity ok to me we shall see
it drives and rides well solo. Going down south in a few weeks we will know then will let you all know.0 -
i have recently bought the 2.0 litre went for a short break break recently and towed like a dream, previously had skoda superb and thought that was a great car, but took the plunge on this even after reading reports, have to say i am impressed and think a
lot of reviews are biased and have underated this car, even after a month i would consider another0 -
Only regret I have is not test driving an automatic,I have started riding automatic maxi scooters (600cc Honda) recently and like the relaxed ride with no gear changing. My wife likes autos but my last experience of autos was a 1977 Triumph 2000 and I didn't
like it0 -
Did you pick yours up other day?And what are your thoughts so for

You certainly won't be disappointed,We've 4,000 miles on our 2.2 EX since March average 41 mpg solo and 29-33 towing.

Yes did pick the car up Wednesday and like it very much. Not towed with it yet it says in the book do 500 miles before towing so going for a ride out after dinner only got 118 miles so far got two week before we go to Torquay so I think we will manage 500 by then. Thanks for your replies.

Well said matetoo many badge snobs around, had that when I drove Kia's lol. Mate of mine has a new Vauxhaul Mokka and he sneered at my SSangyong
referring to it as "cheap Korean crap" haven't seen him since but bit of research tells me Mokkas are made in Spain and Korea!! And
of course Nowt wrong with having a Mokka (apart from the name maybe)To me a cars a car and it doesn't matter where it was made0 -
It depends upon what criteria you are measuring the car against. Whilst they are undoubtedly good value that doesnt necessarily make them a good car to drive if driving dynamics and enjoyment are a factor. For me they are and for that reason (along with
too low nose weight limit) i ruled out a Sang Yong.0 -
My old Ford Focus came from Valencia. Not sure if the Kuga's from the 'wrong side of the tracks'.

My "old" Kuga was built in Valencia

Fair comments,I measured mine against my then present car a 2 1/2 year old Ford Kuga and it measured up very well, yes the Korando doesn't have some of the gadgets the Kuga had but we don't need them, the Korando was bought to tow the caravan we have and the
80kg noseweight not a problem and it tows as well as the Kuga and is as economical. How did you reach the conclusion the Korando isn't a good car to drive if "driving dynamics and enjoyment are a factor" I assume you just read the over critical comments made
by car magazine journos.0 -
Yep certainly a good buy, don't tell everyone they'll all want one lol (badge snobs not included)Done over 4,000 miles in ours since March apart from clock not working no problems,no squeaks no rattles things dropping off etc.etc. recorded 55 mpg with bike
trailer behind and 48mph solo on motorway,very pleased0 -

yes we did pick the car up not towed yet but like it very much can't wait to get the van on. It does seem to have some guts very nippy.

Well here we are in Torquay 390 mile tow and I can say the power of the Korando is amazing the accselaration with the caravan on is really More than enough. If anyone knows telegraph hill on the A380 to Torquay is a long steep hill and the car went up in
4th gear no trouble with a 1300kg van on the back. Just one problem on the motorway I find the steering wanders a bit I have to keep correcting it . Will have to check my loading and tyres again. Ho and the time clock is faulty.0 -
We've had the clock replaced by dealer a quick fix done while we waited.Don't gave any issues with steering, like you say tyre pressures and loading need sorting.

I tow with tyre pressures 32 F 36 R
Just what I did. Then I let the rears Down to 32 and slowed down to 50mph and it was better. Stayed over one night with a short distance to go next day so did not drain the water heater off so that was 2 gallons of water in the front o/s corner so that's
one no no, it will be drained on the way home As normal we will see, early days yet.0
