Grey 7 pin plug & Socket

I have recently had my vehicle wired with a 13pin socket.I am using an adapter to take both grey and black plugs from the caravan.

All is ok on the running lights and I now have a reversing light on the caravan-so far so good.

However there is no other sign that the towing vehicle is charging the caravan battery or runnig the fridge. With the engine running I have no internal lights or taps. I have clicked the car/van switch to car.

Is this normal?

Many thanks

Dave

It seems to be a "problem "with some new vehicles when wired up with the 13pin socket,as they seem to not be wired for C/vans just trailers that only  req road lights, take it back to where it was fitted

That's correct .... the habitation relay in the caravan is working as it should

    Many thanks for your replies.

However is there any evidence that the battery is charging and and the fridge working?

That'll depend on your caravan/fridge. My Lunar had no visual means of telling whether the fridge was working or not (other than measuring how many amps it was drawing) likewise with the charging of the battery (as above, other than using a meter across
the caravan battery) My 'new' caravan has a fridge that will pick what ever power supply it has available to it and show up on its panel.

Is there any form of light on the fridge? Ours has a blue light which shows the fridge is on.If you stop the car engine or switch off power,a red light comes on and a beep sounds.

The van is an Abbey 2002 so I doubt if if has these indicators but I will check.

Thanks for all your useful replies.

On the Electrlux RM4270 fitted to your 2002 Abbey the red 12v rocker switch has a warning light built in, this should be lit when the switch is on and a 12v supply is present with the engine running.
