hello, I am considering a new tow car and have narrowed my search to two cars honda crv 2011 and ford kuga 163 titanium 2013 . can anyone - owners of said cars advise on tow ability and car reliability?

i have looked at reviews online and feel only other caravanners can advise me the amount of info is difficult to get an overall understanding!

thank you

thanks for the information, the one i'm looking at has done 65k also.

your reply helps instill a bit of confidence, i am leaning toward the crv, it is a bit older than the kuga, but i'm told the miles and age are less important with Honda.

cars are always a bit of a gamble ! thanks for you reply

    I have previously owned a CR-V, a late 2007 car.

The only problem I had in 40,000 miles were a pair of worn front drive-shafts. This gave the car a large lateral vibration under acceleration. Although the car was out of warranty Honda UK made a goodwill contribution of roughly 50% of the cost.

It was a decent car and I`ll return to Honda once I can get shot of my XC60....

I have a 2011 CRV, same model as you mention and it pulls our van really well.  60000 miles on clock and only had new discs pads and 1 new set of tyres.  Most of our mileage is towing but when we do run solo it's quick and confident.  Recommended

I have had a 2011 2.2 EX, and have never regretted buying it. Stable and confident both solo or towing. No problems at all with the car, mainly down to the superb build quality that Honda are known for. Only had to replace wiper blades, tyres and pads. If
you are to buy one from a garage/dealer, I would insist on a rear diff flush. As this is a known problem, car feels like the clutch is slipping during very slow tight turns (such as when parking).

I'm running a 2011 CRV with 131654 miles on clock.  Never failed MOT yet - just cost me a new set of tyres plus servicing of course which I am a stickler on.

Engine is "bullet proof" -had it " tweaked" 187 bhp now with super torque. 29/30 mpg towing - 41/43mpg solo- goes like s**t off a shovel.

Next towcar I buy will be a CRV -  but auto as my clutch knee starting to play up !!

just a note to buying your next crv - i test drove the new crv on a 14 plate nice car but didn't like the driving position as much as the older model. its  a little lower and doesn't feel  as solid. Suprised because I liked the look of the newer shape and
expected to be won over by the test drive.
