Freelander 2 wheel drive

Can any tell me about towing with a 2wd Freelander, my concern is a late model as I am thinking of replacing my Volvo D5 with either a Freelander or Range Rover ED4 or should I stick with what I know is best another Volvo?

    Can recommend Freelander but cannot see the point of a 2WD Freelander or Evoke just to save a few MPG over4WD.
