Yeti Outdoor 4x4 Manual
I am thinking of buying a Yeti Outdoor 4x4 (Manual) either the 170PS or the newer 150PS version. I am quite happy with the general technical specifications but would welcome any comments or advice on the gear ratios and reliability of these cars.

A very nice tow car for a caravan up to about 1300kg.
We have a 2015 Outdoor 4x4 150PS. Handling has been excellent so far. Seems to hold 6th gear well. It replaced a 110PS Yeti which sometimes needed a gear-change on long drags.

I tow with the Yeti 2 litre Elegance (140bhp) and I'm delighted with it. My caravan is around 1300kg and is well within the 85% recommendaction - I'm sure I could tow right up to the Skoda limit of 1500kg. It is a very stable tug returning between 30 and
35mpg depending on the terrain. The lower figure was achieved driving up the A75 where there are several long climbs up to over 3000 feet. Solo I get 40-ish and on a motorway run well into the 50s. The 4 wheel drive was superb in snow with Michelin cross-climate
tyres. It's not a big car and is consequently easy to handle and park. We love it, as does every Yeti owner I've met. Provided you haven't got a big van it's a great towing vehicle as well as being fun to drive solo.

The problem is the car is very light and if you want to be safe you need a very light caravan. The 1500 towing limit is too high for towing a caravan down a motorway and would not for me make for a safe outfit. It is basically the weight the car can restart five times on a 12% hill and has nothing to do with safe towing. Cannot give a safe figure as the models vary in weight but try the clubs matching service before you buy.
