Hyundai Santa Fe Problem
I bought this car 20 months ago a 2.2 cdti premium with auto gearbox and all the toys on board, fantastic car and comfortable towed my van (1500 mtplm) with ease, the car only had one previous owner and full service history fantastic I thought, now the bad news while on our last journey home it started to make a noise from the rear got home dropped van off, then to the garage only to find that the rear transfer bearing had seized to the tune of £2500 for the repair, 10 weeks out of warranty I am to say the least not happy, I am posting this just as a word of warning as I did not get much help or sympathy from Hyundai. PS yes it was after all out of warranty but I feel they could have done more to help with the issue and build some kind of confidence in their product.

Sounds like a pretty poor show by Hyundai, if they (Hyundai) are not prepared to offer any help can you get an independant to fix it as there appears to be no advantage to stay with the dealers. It must be a very special or hard to get at bearing to justify
£2500.0 -
Towing home on 25th June from French South coast (near Marseille), we got as far as Valence then horrible clanking noise from Santa Fe engine - Same car as yours PJMEG. We were towed off the autoroute and the car went to Montelimar whilst we stayed on a
site at Barbieres with the caravan.Days went by - car not looked at - Red Pennant flew us home in the end. We are not expecting to see the car or caravan back in the UK until end of next week (probably 15th July) as the recovery folks are just too busy.
My car still has 13 Months warranty on it, so we will se what Hyundai do - I'll keep you posted.
