Hi All,

I have been thinking of buying a VW Passat, 2015 model,estate, 2ltr auto, 150 bhp diesel, and would like to know what it performs like and what they tow with it. Any pro's and con's greatly appreciated.

I have a 2.0ltr turbo Passat and its a very good car.Its the first diesel i.ve ever had and its very quick.I have two pertol cars a 2.9ltr twin turbo and a 3.5ltr straight 6 BMW and the Passat will keep up with both of them. Its the auto with the DSG gearbox and seems to go forever on a tank of fuel Happy so i cant really fault it.Sorry but i.ve never towed with it so cant comment on that.

Hi, I have an older (58 plate) Passat estate, 2.0ltr TDI, with 65000 miles on, and tow around 1480kg - cant fault it ! While towing fuel drops to around 30/31 mpg, but solo anything up to high 50's is achievable. Mine is only the 140bhp.

I nearly bought a 2015 model but the  kerb weight is substantially less than the Ford Mondeo that I went for which otherwise had a very similar specification and appreciably less expensive.

I have a 2016 Alltrack. Fantastic car and tow car. Go for the factory fitted towbar - great!  I have the manual but test drove the DSG but just a little pricey.

I've had three 140 bhp salon pasatts pulling mainly two berth vans. All have been excellent with 30/32 mpg average whilst towing, and easily getting 60 mpg solo.  Excellent stability with no snaking.
