Problem with Hyundai i30 when towing

We have a Ranger 560, and last year had to change our towing car. After doing the sums and chatting to the dealer about weights, etc. we settled on a Hyundai i30 only a couple of years old. We've usually been very happy with its towing abilities but lately
it has developed an alarming habit.

After abou 2 and a half hours it suddenly slows down to 37/40 mph, and won't increase speed - irritating when on single lane roads! The engine isn't overheating and I can find no reason for it. We pull over, raise the bonnet for about quarter of an hour
and can continue as normal.

Has anyone else had this happen, or suggestion what causes it? I must say that normally we only tow for about a couple of hours before stopping (I have trouble sitting for much longer), and have no problems then.

    Is it diesel? The fuel solenoid my be faulty

    I assume any dealer can read the fault codes?

    I had a new Vauxhall with a very similar problem. The dealership checked it several times and could not find the fault. Turned out it was one of the sensors, I think the accelerator, which was putting the vehicle into safe mode,
    I could get it up to 35mph. If I left it for a short period it would reset itself. Sorry to say it was a nightmare to find the problem even the on board computer didn't show a fault. Needless to say I got rid of it.
