£7000 tow car ?
Hi guys, just joined as bought my first van which is a Bessacar and weighs in at 1610 unladden.
I am after some advise on a car to use for this, looking at spending around 7-8k on it, the Mrs will also use this car to communte to work which is 150 miles a day so will be wanting a diesel.
Thanks for the upcoming advise.

Funny enough Rogerwyn I have looked at one with 42000 miles, 2007 model and one owner and full service for £5,000

They are pretty juicy for 150 mile commute though, arent they? A Toyota RAV4 4 might tow that (without looking) and will be better on fuel. Alternatively The 2.2 Santa Fe Is a lovely car and will do 40mpg.

The OP states 1610 unladen so the MTPLM must be around 1800kg. A RAV4 is going to be too light IMHO. Any tow car is going to need to be pretty chunky and that does not bode well for an economic commute of 150 miles a day.

I wish I could get 40 mpg out of my Santa fe lucky to see average of 30 mpg and that's not towing

Got a tuning chip on my earlier manual 2.0 which are meant to be worse than the 2.2, last fill up saw 39.3, one before 37.7, and that is lots of miles around SE London.

Thanks guys....
I opted for a Kia Sorento, low mileage and 10 years old but fsh and only 2 grand, will just use it for the job of towing.
