Stick on towing mirrors.
I purchased a new tow car this year and at the same time have also purchased stick on towing mirrors. I tried them out this weekend with a trip to Yellowcraigs where the warden informed that they were not legal. I've searched the web but can't find any yes
they are or not. I've noticed that they are available from most on-line sites like Towsure. Therefore what's the law on these great mirrors?

Which mirrors have you got?
I can`t see Towsure selling mirrors that don`t meet the legal requirements and as long as they give you the correct field of view I can`t see how they could be illegal.

The Road Vehicles (Approval) Regulations 2009 require that mirrors must comply with EU Directive 2003/97/EC and are type approved accordingly. I imagine that is the reason why the warden told you that they weren't legal. They probably don't carry the type approval mark.

I have to say that they're not for me anyway, I like to be able to use the car's mirrors too .... tend to tip the nearside down a bit to see the side of the road on narrow A/B roads. But if you're happy with them, they're better than nothing.

I agre with Lutz, the club did do an article on this in the magazine some time back and the mirrors must now have an EC mark to show this. Milenco offer advice on their website, you may think it is biased but I have not seen anyone take issue with it.
