Hi, Just checked my caravan nose weight using the bathroom scales and amazingly its about spot on with the car manufacturers figure of 75kg. However out of interest, does anyone know if this figure is a maximum, a minimum, + or - 10% or what.???? Thanks.

Car manufacturers quote a maximum permitted noseweight for each car model.

Skyestheboy.  If you measured the noseweight with the caravan empty you will have to be careful with the loading so as not to exceed the car's max allowable!

Thanks comeyras, almost loaded, just thrown in peg bag and a few clothes and the weights about the same.

So there is no 85% figure or similar for nose weight ???

The noseweight quoted by a car manufacturer is the maximum at any state of loading, the van should be level when checking with scales.

No. You can take the vans nose weight up to the maximum quoted by the car manufacturer. However Alko state that the nose weight on the caravan chassis should not exceed 100kg, so even if the cars nose weight is, say 150kg, you should not exceed 100kg.

No, generally setting the noseweight to be close to, but not greater than the manufacturer's specified limit, whatever the actual weight of the caravan, will ensure optimal stability.

Heavier the better for stability up to the car's limit or 100kg.
