My Freelander is old, very old think Flintstones!

Life moves on and we need to go down to 1 car, we don't do a lot of milage now we are retired and I tow maybe 2 or three times a year as the van is on a Store and Stay site..

The budjet is £6-7000? I'm not sure maybe a bit more, from what I have read on the net a Mondeo is the front runner is there something you can recomend?

Reliable, Cheap etc?

Many Thanks.         aamcle

My van is 1318kg Compass Omega 482 and my Skoda Octavia Estate 2.0TDi 4x4 (2012) tows it very well. Mass in service 1495kg, torque 320nm @ 1,750-2,500rpm and gives me 33 -37 mpg towing depending on roads.

It is always hard to give advice on tow-cars when it depends so much on the buyer’s preferences, not just statistics.

My last tow-car was a Mondeo, we owned it for five years and were very happy, and you would certainly get a good one for your budget.

Personally I prefer a high driving position of a 4x4 and have now purchased an X-trail. I went for a 57 plate the last model made before they fit the dreaded DPF, that’s also another consideration if you only do short journeys.Undecided

Good luck and I hope you are happy with whatever you choose.Smile
