2 ltr or 2.2 tow car

ive always pulled for 40 years with a 2.5 or  2.7 ltr car none auto,  im wondering what car in the 2ltr or 2.2 ltr bracket  do you have , i have a swift Challenger 1500  towing weight, so can you give me your thoughts on your expeirience of 2 ltr cars ,

    just sold my honda crv 2.2 ctdi

    excellent tow car

    just bought a skoda yeti outdoor 2.0 tdi 150bhp 4wd

    just as good if not better a tow car

    2.0 diesel Ford Kuga AWD great tow car but mpg could be better. Very stable on all roads and speeds.

    2.2 Kia Sorento 194bhp, great tow car getting around 28/30 towing and 36/46 solo town and long runs

    Have never towed with anything greater than 2.2. Just sold my Freelander 2 (2.2 diesel) after 6 years of towing a Bailey Olympus followed by a Bailey Unicorn series 3 for a total of around 20k miles and it was fine. Have now bought a Discovery Sport (2.0
    litre)  but have not towed with it yet.

    Volvo XC60 2 Litre 190bhp Manual, 55mpg solo, so far only towed van once a short distance so cant comment on mpg towing yet.

    I've towed 1565kg with a 2L 171bhp, and a 2.2 173bhp my present car, which will easily pull over that, but its also got 310 pound feet of torque.

    I'm looking at anything upto 1700kg with my next caravan with the same car.

    My last four cars have all been either 2 or 2.2 diesels. All towed perfectly well but might have struggled with really large caravans. 1500 kilos should be no problem for any modern car at 2 or 2.2 capacity.
